River Maths

I’m interested to know how often students in KS3 Maths are assessed. Do you do a mixture of topic tests and end of term assessments? How long are your topic tests? Are they teacher marked or self marked by students? Any recommendations? @mathsjem @river_maths

Has anyone made a topic frequency analysis for @AQAMaths A Level Maths? Something like @1stclassmaths produces but for A level is what I’m after! @river_maths @missradders @mathsjem

Any suggestions for online platforms for A Level Further Maths? We have Integral, are there others?

Does anyone have any copies of this textbook that they’d like to sell me? They are out of print and I could do with a few more copies! @river_maths @mathsjem

@river_maths Use Geogebra and Desmos to visualise stuff. If you make mistakes, just own up to them and correct it the next time you see the class. It’s one of the biggest joys of my teaching career so far to teach Further Maths. I’m sure you will enjoy it too!

Help please! Teaching Y12 A level Further Maths for the first time in September. Anyone got any good resources or sites to visit? Any advice? New term nerves kicking in already 😬

@river_maths @mathsjem Which board are you doing. It definitely takes a while to plan, hence using the dr frost ppts as my starting points & then supplementing them with other things. I picked up y12&y13 in the same year which was daunting & loads of work. I’d taught the 13s for gcse which helped

@mathsjem Yes I’m worried about how long it will take to plan right. But I will be enjoyable planning, I hope! Ooo I like that. My group is looking likely to be around 6, most of which I taught at GCSE which will be nice. Good luck on your results! 🤞 Can’t believe GCSE is next week!

@river_maths I was nervous too! I continue to be nervous about teaching A2 FM. Planning FM lessons takes me ages! We entered ours (only 6 students in the end) into AS FM in case they don’t want to continue - I can’t believe they get their results this week. It’s all I can think about! 😬

@river_maths Very similar to me! Except I did matrices instead of complex numbers and roots of polynomials. I love series - such wonderful algebra! I really enjoyed teaching the stats too. It was nice not to have to rush everything - it’s so different to teaching A level maths.

@river_maths I did this last year. I sometimes found it hard to find sufficient examples & practice to supplement the textbook. I made good use of madasmaths & Integral. I also bought myself a copy of different further maths textbook - always helpful to have an extra bank of questions.
