@BarbaraPocock Anyone who worked in a business and comprehensively and completely failed in their single task for a decade would be fired immediately. When they caused stakeholders to lose billions in the process they would be held responsible. Shut down the entire modelling department.

@GrayConnolly @MarkoMatvikov Well, it’s that or another 3 years of Labor. Poll percentages don’t translate to lower house seats in any linear sense, so we have to hope Angus can undo Labor’s significant majority.
English

@MarkoMatvikov Angus will do well in the next Federal election.

@OtherSideAus To be fair. Keating is a smart guy, and he did achieve significant (necessary) reform. It’s just that his ideology was always going to send him off in the wrong direction. As for the other two, so much incompetence.

Oh definitely. For stealing other peoples wealth and redistributing it thereby lowering EVERYBODY’s common-wealth. THE best. 3 minds with a collective IQ of almost 100.

What a manipulation of statistics.
Housing stock ‘16-‘26 grew from 9.9M to 11.5M. That’s 1.6M new homes (16%)
Population grew from 23.8M to 27.7M. Increase of 3.9M people. 2.5X more people than new dwellings.
Further, 10% of dwellings are unoccupied - holiday homes, city pads and bolt holes owned by foreigners. The 1.6M new dwellings is reduced to 1.44M actually occupied.
So the alternative facts are: Population is growing 2.7X faster than occupied new homes.

@zoecabina @FlorioGina @Cernovich The modern feminists are also severely overestimating the number of “high quality mates”. They all want the three sixes - 6 foot, 6 figure income (in USD) and 6 inches, but that is about 1% of the population that they expect to “capture” and, even less likely, keep.
English

Nah. A woman, provided she is mentally healthy, is acutely aware of where she sits in the hierarchy. Women are very aware of who is better looking than them. In fact, I think most women underestimate their attractiveness— not the overestimate.
I don’t think unattractive or “mid” women are going around thinking they’re hot enough to fuck around forever and still find a high quality mate at the end of it.
I think less women are looking for a mate to settle down and start a family with, and I think there are a number of reasons behind that. But them overestimating their attractiveness and being slutty is not one of them.

The common response to this news is that Alex Cooper is somehow leading her audience down a path that she herself is not choosing. But what’s happening here is actually the exact feminist dream.
A woman participates in hookup culture as much as she wants when she’s in her prime. She sleeps around, has casual sex, gets the ick, dumps men, gets dumped, has summer flings, gets abortions if needed. She’s hot. She has pretty privilege and isn’t afraid to use it.
But when she feels like the time is right, she settles down with a high value man — only because it’s her choice, not because she feels pressured by societal standards or a ticking biological clock. This man does not care about her past because he wouldn’t dare judge a woman for expressing herself sexually. They have a beautiful wedding and her dress is stunning. She gets pregnant when she feels like she’s ready to take on motherhood.
She trades in her promiscuous days only when she wants to, on her own terms. And the perfect man she finds is more than happy to go along with her timeline because he respects her and her desires. And he doesn’t want to lose her.
Alex has quite literally lived out the perfect feminist blueprint thus far.
You see, the only problem is, this modern feminist blueprint usually only works for exceptionally successful, gorgeous women with influence (with exception of course, but we’re talking about the rule here). Models, actresses, wealthy bachelorettes and entrepreneurs.
It doesn’t quite translate for the everyday mid who works a boring corporate job. By the time she’s well into her 30s, the everyday mid with the promiscuous past generally doesn’t have the same allure and magnetism as a famous rich blonde who regularly rubs shoulders with elite celebrities. The men that she wants to try and settle down with have far less interest in her and would much rather marry a woman much younger, much less seasoned, and much more fertile.
This is why we are seeing such high rates of childless unmarried women. They followed the early years of the blueprint, spending their 20s and even most of their 30s dating casually, believing that they too could find a high value man when they’re older and eventually sick of the dating scene—why wouldn’t they be able to? They look at famous, rich celebs and influencers and think, hey I can do that too. If they can postpone marriage and kids until they are “ready,” so can I!
But everyday women simply aren’t on the same playing field as women like Alex Cooper. Few will fully understand this. Many will try to make excuses as to why this isn’t true (brace yourself for the outliers’ stories).
Even if you don’t see anything morally wrong with the hookup culture that Alex Cooper praises on her show, young women would be smart to understand the real world, and that you have a much greater chance at locking down a high value man when you’re younger and a bit more austere. Sorry I don’t make the rules.

@WEschenbach @NYCMayor If they’re not allowed to pray in the street in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh or Doha, why are they allowed to pray in the streets in New York?

@NYCMayor How about you tell those Muslim wankers to start praying INSIDE the mosque like every other religion? Praying outside is a raw power grab.

I am aware of the disturbing incident targeting worshippers during Friday prayers outside the Baitul Mamur Mosque in Brooklyn, where a man praying was struck with an egg.
That hateful act is unacceptable and an affront to the values that define us as New Yorkers.

MEDIA RELEASE | One Nation becoming another version of the Liberal Party: Palmer
United Australia Party Chairman Clive Palmer says One Nation is fast becoming “just another version of the Liberals” following the latest round of high-profile defections to Pauline Hanson’s party.
Former Liberal senator Hollie Hughes and former Liberal vice-president Teena McQueen have now joined One Nation, following the earlier moves of former Liberal senator Cory Bernardi and former Nationals deputy leader Barnaby Joyce.
Mr Palmer said the defections reflected deeper problems within the Coalition and highlighted the absence of genuine policy reform.
“What Australians are seeing is simply the changing of the deck chairs,” Mr Palmer said.
“One Nation is increasingly becoming the Liberal Party under another name.”
Mr Palmer said Australians were looking for new ideas and practical solutions rather than political figures attempting to extend their careers.
“These former Liberals are jumping ship because they know the Liberal Party is gone,” he said.
“It should not be about individuals trying to save their own political careers. Australians are tired of selfish politicians protecting their jobs instead of fighting for the country’s future.”
Mr Palmer said it was disappointing that One Nation appeared focused on recruiting former Liberal identities rather than developing new leadership and policies.
“You would think One Nation could find new talent instead of recycling people from a party that Australians have already rejected,” he said.
“What Australia needs is not a new Liberal Party dressed up in different colours. Australia needs new policies and real answers to make this country grow and prosper.”
Mr Palmer said the United Australia Party’s proposed New Deal for Australia was aimed at addressing the nation’s economic and social challenges through a comprehensive policy platform focused on cost-of-living pressures, housing affordability and declining living standards.
“The New Deal is about restoring prosperity, creating opportunity and ensuring Australians benefit from the wealth of this country,” he said.
“The Liberals are a sinking ship. Australians are looking for a genuine alternative with policies that can rebuild the economy and strengthen the nation’s future.
“Australians need a New Deal.”

@NoelWhittaker The difference is that it saves the *Federal* government saves $482m but it costs the *State* governments $547m extra. Jimbo doesn’t care what happens to the elderly in the State hospitals.
English

The government just cut private health insurance rebates for 2.6 million seniors to save $482M — but actuaries say it'll cost public hospitals $547M extra.
So they slugged the elderly, gutted private health, and lost money doing it.
Intergenerational equity? More like an intergenerational own goal. 🤦
English

@ajamesbragg Wow. To come out in support of men invading women’s shelters and women’s sports and women’s spaces is to reveal how rotten to the core your party has become. No wonder the people have rejected you in favour of ON. A pity I don’t live in NSW so I can’t vote against you.

@OzzieReviews They are actually MANDATORY in some jurisdictions, such as Switzerland, where roughly 28% of households own at least one firearm.
English

A firearm suppressor or silencer as they’re often called, are freely available in New Zealand, the UK and many other countries, however they are prohibited for licensed shooters to use at the range or out recreationally shooting in Australia.
What do they actually do?
- They reduce the recoil of the firearm making it more enjoyable to shoot
- They reduce the loud boom caused by firing a round
- They significantly reduce noise complaints from residents near shooting ranges
- They comply with Workplace Health & Safety laws regarding safe noise levels when using firearms
What they don’t do?
- They don’t completely silence the shot as 99% of firearms shoot a bullet at supersonic velocity, meaning over the speed of sound, which means that the bullet still creates a loud noise as it breaks the sound barrier during flight, you cannot silence this from happening as it’s pure physics
- They don’t turn you into an assassin. A licensed shooter doesn’t randomly start assassinating people because they attach a suppressor to their firearm, that’s Hollywood BS and if it were true, we’d see countless shootings with them in those countries where they are freely available
- They don’t increase the speed that the firearm can shoot nor do they make the firearm more powerful, they are simply a device similar to a muffler on a car, it doesn’t silence it, it just reduces the noise to a much more tolerable level
But the antigun mob in Australia keep pushing their emotional catch phrase of “only assassins want silencers”.
I think it’s time to ignore the catch phrases and simply look at the facts on suppressors.
What’s your thoughts?

@OMGTheMess In any other tax jurisdiction, expenses incurred in the process of earning income are deductible against that income. The idea that losses on an income producing asset are not deductible is a pretty novel concept.

@60YOGamer @OMGTheMess NZ house price decline was entirely about everyone who could leave NZ leaving NZ. The correlation between house prices and emigration to Australia is pretty close to 100%.

@OMGTheMess Don't forget what else happened.
NZ house price decline.
Around -13.9% to -17.8% from the January 2022 peak to the mid-2023 trough (depending on index: CoreLogic, QV, REINZ).

@goodfoodgal Sadly, even this is not as bad as the destruction they cause in building the access roads to these things. Because the blades are so long the roads have to be incredibly wide to get around corners, and they can’t be steep on the way to the top of the hill.

@OMGTheMess It’s also why they keep importing more tenants even though rents are already sky high.
