@TonyPannWBAL So how about listening (you tube) to the Marcels sing their rendition of “Blue Moon.” ‘Bom bapa bomp, dang a dang dang, ding a dong ding, blue moooon.’ lol 😂
English

"Blue Moon, you saw me standing alone..." May 2026 will have 2 Full Moons! The first will be on Friday (1st) the second on the 31st. Two full moons in the same calendar month means the second is called a "Blue Moon". Nobody is sure why it's called a Blue Moon, but it happens about once every 3 years. Hence the phrase "once in a blue moon". 🙂

One more frost or freeze for Baltimore? It's possible in the first week of May! It will be a warm day today in MD, but the pattern looks much cooler for the next 2 weeks. -NAO and a +PNA are signals that a few more cold snaps are possible for the Mid Atlantic. Pattern looks active too. Should be able to catch up a little on the rainfall deficit. Stay tuned...

English

@robbyc12a Prior to March, we had 5 months in a row with below normal temps. It's just a natural swing the other way.
English

Once we get beyond today, the pattern in Maryland for the rest of April looks cooler. Close to 'normal', overall. There should be more opportunities to catch up in the rainfall department as well. 👇 With the cooler temps, the chance for severe weather goes down. That's not to say there won't be any storms, but the probability for Big Boomers is lower without the heat. Stay tuned...

@JustinWeather I never knew this, Justin! Thank you so much for informing us of this worthwhile information.

Drought Update
🌵 🌧️ This seemed appropriate on our soggy morning...
For what it’s worth, we still have a Moderate Drought, so the rain is welcome.
📏 Baltimore is still -2.77” Precipitation Since Jan 1.
Combined with -16.91 for the combined 2 years prior..
So every bit helps.
🤔 I do wonder why this bothers some people. Every tine I post about the drought, a few snarky comments or dismissal show up.
🧑🌾 I know this had affected Farmers, Gardeners, and most certainly people on well water!
Your soggy yard is not the measure of drought. There is a water table underground can take up to 18 months for rain water to seep in and fill up.

@blk613 @JustinWeather Hi there, Becky. How you been? This is Rob Caperna from St V’s! Yea, I too would like EST year round, as I miss that morning sun.
English

@JustinWeather Yes I did miss the morning sunlight. Morning sunlight is what sets your circadian rhythm. Dr. Andrew Hubermann has done numerous podcasts on the benefits of morning daylight and if he had to choose, Standard Time is healthier.
English

Did you miss the morning daylight?

@JustinWeather At the risk of offending anyone (lots of super sensitivity in today’s culture) my question is what’s wrong with 45 degree weather in early March? Spring doesn’t officially arrive until March 21, the vernal equinox; so 50 degree temperatures would be normal.

Once Again here on Saturday afternoon,
But it might be about to change Baltimore.

@WashingtonianWx Eight to twelve inches in Baltimore metro? Stock up on that bread and tp while it’s still available. And don’t forget the ice cream.

FIRST CALL: A winter storm is expected to impact the region from Sunday into Monday morning. Here is our initial forecast ahead of this storm.
We are expecting 5-8 inches of snow for DC and 8-12 inches in the Baltimore metro area. We do expect this to be different tomorrow, given the continued changes in the track among the models.
Any more westward trends would bring heavier totals more inland, which seems to be the current trend with the models.
Travel could be challenging from Sunday afternoon into Monday morning. Now is the time to prepare. We will keep monitoring the latest data as it comes in. Stay tuned! #vawx #mdwx #dcwx #wvwx

@JustinWeather I’ll take the cold, although I really dislike the high winds. Cold air smells so fresh n clean!

@TVTweeties @JustinWeather I think your prediction is on target. I’m thinking schools will open half day delay on Thursday, particular in northern suburbs and counties.
English

@JustinWeather I think schools will be affected longer. The main roads may be fine, but residential areas and sidewalks will be a problem.

‼️ Winter Storm Warning: Sunday Focus
❄️ 🧊 Heavy Snow And Heavy Ice
💪 This will be our strongest winter storm since the record snow in 2016.
40 states and 1,300 Counties under some alert!
📏 My Updated totals are very smiler to my first call.
💁🏻♂️ LOTS OF MAPS in my report and I hope you have easy access.
Here are a few Highlights.
⏰ Snow will arrive 12 AM to 3 AM Sunday, with heavy snow Sunday at sunrise.
🧊 Sleet and Freezing Rain will mix in from the south during the morning.
🔌🔥 Ice on top of snow will result in breaking tree branches and power outages.
👉Metro Baltimore is expected to mix to sleet and freezing rain during lunch time.
Northern and Western Suburbs will hold the deep cold longer. This will result in high totals in the typical areas.
🌡️ Temps remain below freezing through the event and all of next week.
🐻❄️ With this period of Glacial Expansion, I still believe schools will be affected Monday and very possibly Tuesday.

@JustinWeather I am also a cool/cold weather fan. October through February are my favorite months with their crisp clean air (but you can have the winds😉)
