@pgipe @B_Madden4 Your point above is a key reason we wrote this piece: hbr.org/2024/03/retail…. Realizing uncertainty, our goal was to suggest how the enthusiasm for retail health care might be channeled into a more realistic need for partnerships between retailers and existing health systems.

@B_Madden4 How many different big boxes gonna give this a go? You can ‘revolutionize’ all you want-end of the day people need relationships with their PCP.

Walgreens: • Reported a loss of $13,100,000,000 for the last 3 months • Wrote off $5.8B of asset impairment in VillageMD (total valuation write-off for VillageMD = $12.4B - looks like they're trying to eat all of this in this quarter) • Shutting down 160 VillageMD clinic locations • Exiting Florida, Indiana, Chicago, Boston, Rhode Island, and Las Vegas Never a good look to have a $13B paper loss when you're trying to prove out a transformation into an integrated healthcare delivery company. Guess those embedded clinics were a bad idea - after all, who wants to receive primary care inside of a Walgreens?
