This move didn’t just hurt the Mets 20 years ago. Had they signed Ichiro, maybe they would’ve been a destination for Japanese players. Franchise altering mistake.

@robert_wallen56 @JoeyWahler Torrens is an awful hitter and he becomes worse when he's no longer in the backup role. Happened last year. That RISP thing is kind of a whole team problem not just Alvarez. I want him swinging for the fences there's only a handful of players left on this team that can do that.

The fact that Alvarez is expected to miss about two months, yet no one seems to consider it a huge loss, illustrates how far his stock has fallen. Many now actually prefer Torrens catching. Can you imagine? Waiting on Alvy is like waiting for a bus that never comes.
