That school had not been a military target for a long time, but no one even bothered to check before the strike.
The fact that America didn’t intend to kill civilians doesn’t absolve them of the consequences

Nations also have a responsibility to separate their military installations from civilian infrastructure.

A missile strike on an Iranian school is a war crime. Iranian missile strikes on civilian objects and airports are war crimes.

🚨 BREAKING: Over 30+ Canadian soldiers 🪖 from CFB Petawawa 🇨🇦 hit with frostbite in Alaska 🇺🇸 exercise. Soldiers report 60-70 cases, some severe enough for hospitalization! Temps plunged to -43°C. The U.S. is sending the 2,200 Marines and sailors of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit from INDOPACOM to the Middle East. The 31st MEU is based around the USS Tripoli (LHA 7) and its air wing of Ospreys and F-35s.

@steffanwatkins Great circle planner from Edmonton to Poland would Be a good estimate. When I was at LdSH, it was not at a time where we considered deployment to the arctic likely. I would imagine the Norwegians have us beat on Latitude, but I’ve been to Tromso and it’s a very different climate.

@robhadds I think they should have leaned harder into the logistical challenges of the exercise, but they don't seem to usually.
re: cold weather testing in Shilo, that makes sense.
Now I wonder how far North a CC-177 has flown in a Leopard; I would never have thought of that before. :)

🇨🇦⚔️ The Canadian Armed Forces moved a gun to a Canadian location with a runway that's been used by military transports since the 1950s. I'm not impressed, I'm concerned. Why was this not being done b4? Maybe do less Army exercises in California and do more in Canada. 🤷♂️

Gunners from 1 RCHA deployed an M777 howitzer in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut, the furthest north it's ever been in Canadian service. After over 1,400km of road moves in frigid conditions and an airlift by the RCAF, we achieved one of our key objectives for Op NANOOK-NUNALIVUT.

@steffanwatkins 2) why are we only just doing this now?That’s a hard question to answer authoritatively but, in my personal opinion, the world didn’t need a demonstration that this was something we could do before. Now, maybe it does. This was a logistics exercise more than anything else.

@steffanwatkins 1) The temperature in Cambridge bay was not that different from Shilo, so there’s no need to travel that far north just to do cold weather testing. We have no live fire ranges in that area, so it took lots of work to find a place where we could fire artillery safely.

If the empire knew that the weapon would destroy an entire planet, they would need to reasonably believe that the direct military advantage would outweigh the cost to civilians and infrastructure. I don’t think I could do that personally.

@CanCorruptmon @NoahGairn Most of our infantry sect commanders and up are all running over the ear headsets. Specifically invisio T7s, you can see them in most of the photos from Latvia.

@NoahGairn Fucking lol, if this is the model ordered.. Why are they ordering helmets with no Ear protection for Frontline Infantry, this a special forces helemet to be used with an over ear headset... Something Regular grunts DO NOT USE
