Good for Mercer AD Jim Cole for calling out the politics of the @NCAABaseball process: "I could feel the politics of big-school athletics all weekend. The messages from friends progressed from, "Mercer is good," to "I'll put in a good word, but I'm only one vote," and, ultimately, to silence. To the committee: I have been in those rooms before, and I know what happened... This was Politics 101."

A lot of discussion about the RPI over the last week or so; therefore, I decided to nerd out and back-calculated every RPI of all 310-ish teams as of Selection Monday from 2013 onward (when the RPI changed). Mostly numbers, but some thoughts in between. Article below... 👇👇👇👇

NC State made the field with an RPI outside the top 50, a losing record against Quad I opponents and a sub-.500 ACC record. That's bad news for Mercer, which had everything but a retiring coach.

Committee Michael Alford on why Mercer was left out.

The amount of illogical arguments from the selection chair was astounding. - SOS matters, unless you’re Southern Miss where you didn’t get rewarded - Out of state travel matters unless your teams like Florida who never left the state - Weekends in March are determining factors for teams on the bubble, but weekends in May have little impact for hosting - Mercer didn’t play enough hard teams: except for OSU, Georgia Tech, and Troy
