I don’t think people understand that the price for good weed has only gone up ever since weed became legal. You can still find good weed for under 1k but the real za only comes from caregivers or small growers who are passionate about their plants. If you’re from Michigan around 2016-2017 the streets were flooded with GG4 (right pic) and every plug had some sticky LOUD OG. The reason being was the legal market was still premature and filled with caregivers who only focused on a few plants for themselves and their patients (and had sources to the top clones.) This of course seeped its way into the black market scene and created a competitive industry early into its legalization in 2018 Fast forward to 2026, you pick up any OG strain from the dispo and it’ll be bunk. Not because the strain is bad but because OG strains weren’t bred for mass production facilities but for a skilled basement grower to be able to bring out the expression from the plant. The legal market became watered down around 2020 as clones became more accessible and at the same time the legal market started leaning more towards concentrates rather than outright flower. This combination led growers to start breeding plants more for specific qualities like terps/ thc %/ weight for concentrates(cookie genetics). Instead of breeding for the quality of the smoke growers were incentivized to breed for a spreadsheet That’s the reason why you have p’s that go for 5k and p’s that go for 1k
