@kurtis_broda this project was doomed from the start.
csa leadership has done a terrible job at budget management and a fantastic job at positioning itself as a contributor, not a leader. they only do well (canadaarm, artemis) when programs are organized for them by international partners
English

@robotsailor My confusion of CSA priorities intensifies. Not sure if any major program is going to hit its goals this decade...

while this is sad news, it is not surprising. i've spoken with many engineers on this team, and anyone in the industry could've seen this coming. costs were exceedingly overinflated.
i dont doubt however, that we will have rovers on the moon much sooner than most realize.

Canadian Space Agency terminates Lunar Rover Mission in 2026-27 Plan spaceq.ca/canadian-space…

@robotsailor Nobody. Literally nobody. We software folks all look at hardware people with envy.
English

@campedersen rumor has it they've already found tiny pockets of maple syrup on the moon
English

@robotsailor The strategic maple syrup reserve must become interplanetary for true mitigation
English

@david6utierrez the path to building effective generalized intelligence is through compounding intelligence in niche applications. took longer than it shouldve for most to realize this
English

@robotsailor Crazy how much the pendulum has swung away from building generalized platforms and towards things that actually generate value in real-world environments.
Learning an increasing number of specific skills = LT general abilities.
English

@robotsailor After seeing the number of demos at GTC this week, I believe this to be spot on
English

@robotsailor Pretty much every industry is like this. Competitive advantages wear away and you compete purely on execution.
English

@masonhensley will be interesting to see how many robotics companies scale enough to worry about supply chain
English

@allergictohype the best automotive companies should already be building robotics divisions
English

@robotsailor It will probably follow the same path as the car industry.
English

@robotsailor I'm curious, how does this do mapping? I don't see any sensors..
English

The best robotics wedge nobody’s talking about:
Industry-specific form factor → teleop deployment → proprietary workflow data → agentic automation layer on top built into the systems of the end customer → full autonomy explodes margin over time
Lower COGs than general-purpose humanoids.
Real revenue on day one.
Switching costs before you’ve touched autonomy.
Distribution, cost structure, process power, counter-positioning and cornered resources are moats.
Robots aren’t exempt from this.
English

@JasonrShuman finally someone who gets it. this approach isn’t being spoken about nearly enough, if at all 🫡
