A group of us just arrived on the Senate floor to challenge our colleagues - on both sides of the aside - to rise to this moment and jointly condemn what has happened to Sen. Padilla. Yes we still need to collect the full facts, but this appears to be a defining moment for the country.

Senator Padilla chose disrespectful political theatre and interrupted a live press conference without identifying himself or having his Senate security pin on as he lunged toward Secretary Noem. Mr. Padilla was told repeatedly to back away and did not comply with officers’ repeated commands. @SecretService thought he was an attacker and officers acted appropriately. Secretary Noem met with Senator Padilla after and held a 15 minute meeting.

For those tracking #HB1180, the Baby Olivia Act, the measure stalled out in Senate Education this morning. The bill isn't dead, but based on members' comments, it'll need revisions before it can clear that committee.

@WayneMayville @acnewsitics That was 10 years ago, and it found that there were social security numbers linked to people 112 or older. They were not drawing benefits, they just hadn't been marked as dead. That IS a problem, but having a number != "Receiving Social Security".

@acnewsitics Well the real numbers are even more staggering so what exactly is your point? And even the math you are all hyped up about; a person 150 would have been 61 in 1936, so they absolutely could still be on the books receiving Social Security Benefits!

150 years ago was the 1870s. The Social Security Act was signed into law in 1935. I know math is hard MAGAs but damn.
