If Jay Dyer is the reason why your church has grown more than it has within the past ten years, then something is wrong with your church. It should be growing because of people seeking Christ. The Orthodox Church is becoming more of a boys club rather than this place of healing like they proclaim.

The Bible clearly teaches a distinction between the Visible Church and the Invisible Church. Paul summarizes this in Romans 9:6 - “For not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel.” This was evident in the 1st century church: Jude 1:4 For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ. Galatians 2:4 Yet because of false brothers secretly brought in—who slipped in to spy out our freedom that we have in Christ Jesus, so that they might bring us into slavery— God has always preserved a faithful remnant - from the early church, through the medieval period, and especially during the Reformation when the Gospel exploded once again. The Visible Church has always been mixed. The Invisible Church is the true Body of Christ - His elect.

Delusion and faith are not the same thing. A delusion is when you believe in something that’s not true/real. It can’t be real or true by definition. But faith is totally different, even if we grant Dawkins ridiculous definition… because you can have faith in a real/true thing. The confusion comes from many atheists being so bad at philosophy they think that if you don’t have good reasons to believe something that it’s false, but this is clearly misguided. For example: I can believe tomorrow it will rain with total faith and no reasons, and be right, it does rain. And I can also believe that tomorrow it will rain with amazing reasons and evidences, and be wrong… it doesn’t rain. Having evidence doesn’t make a proposition true, it just makes it appear more likely to be true. That’s it.

Here comes the sea of "Muh one true churchers," all 86 versions will soon tell you how their interpretations are unchanged and better than all the things out there in the universe. Nevermind actual history, just believe their assertions because...reasons. I mean, who cares what The Bible says, its what the church says that matters... Sometimes, I hate this timeline. lol

Sola Scriptura gets mischaracterized constantly. Critics say that it leads to interpretive chaos. There's a certain sense in which this is true. If everyone has access to the Bible with no outside authority enforcing a strict interpretation, then yes, some people will twist Scripture and run wild. But the alternative is worse: binding every conscience to a human institution loaded with its own errors and doctrinal additions not clearly taught in the Bible. It's better to allow for error rather than dogmatically enforce it. Scripture itself is authoritative and sufficient. It is God-breathed. Nothing in scripture gives us any indication that there would ever be a necessary infallible system to interpret the Word. How would we ensure the interpreter gets interpreted correctly?

St. Basil wrote about liturgical customs that he claims came from apostolic oral tradition, about 300 years after the apostles. These are practices, not additional binding doctrines required for salvation. Sola Scriptura doesn't forbid all tradition or custom - it states Scripture alone is the infallible rule of faith. Traditions are fine when they align with and are tested by Scripture, but they cannot bind a person's conscience with equal authority. The apostles' oral teaching (2 Thess 2:15) was to active churches at that time and was written down in the NT. We don't have independent, verifiable oral traditions today that can bind consciences equally with Scripture.
