Our back yard has fallen away in a landslide caused by a NYS DOT drainage creek overflowing and undermining the hill. We are receiving no help from any government agencies. Our neighbors were forced to evecuate their home permanently. The landslide has continued to get worse from this video. @BobLonsberry Any connections that might get this moving in a better direction?! It's been a week and a half, and all the agencies are pointing at one another, as expected.

@PaulJReed1 We already know they haven't done maintenance on it in the 13 years we've lived here! Just need to find out what their maintenance schedule is required to be, and work with that. Of course that's easier said than done!

Already researched that idea. It's 500-1000 loads of fill. And the trucks can't approach anywhere near the edge. We would have to rent a dozer for at least 3-4 months, pushing a very tall pile slightly closer to the edge with every dump. Best case scenario it works. Medium case scenario the pile collapsed the bank further. Worst case scenario the truck, dozer, and house end up in the hole. Also it requires RGE to remove the power lines.

@rocledgestone Just start having construction crews who need to get rid of cement start dumping them over the edge all along it. They usually pay to get rid of it.

@tsteele93 They already told us that we're liable for any damage if we try to fix it. Even though it's cause by the NYSDOT drainage creek running along the toe of our hill.

@rocledgestone I hope you aren't counting on Hochul or Schiff to help you. If anything, they are likely to come after you for anything you try to do to shore it up or stop the loss. Good luck.

@rocledgestone @ChMJ1016 Brother, I’d jump at the chance to sue this state and the municipality involved. If what you’re saying is true and it was the direct cause of the collapse, it should be an open and shut case. I wish you nothing but the best. Don’t quit!!!

New York State, what the heck?

We do have a go fund me. It has very little traction. Unfortunately the solutions are in the $500k plus range. Most project into the multiple millions of dollars. Our goal is to save our neighbor's house (husband wife and two daughters) as well as our house (my pregnant wife and I) from succumbing to the slope failure. I will probably post the GFM in a follow up comment, but again, it's embarrassing to ask for help.

@Tyquans22 @ChMJ1016 We've explored this option. Very few lawyers are willing to sue local or state municipalities. Even fewer are in our price range. Even fewer than that think that it would take fewer than 2 years. This needs an immediate solution.
