@UpbeatOnRepeat @Rainmaker1973 To save time when putting them back together because they won't all be the exact same shape and maybe then they don't fit? I guess...

The Swedish torch was invented by Finns and it became known in Europe during the 1600s. Compared to a campfire, it is more compact, and therefore several small heat sources can be distributed over an area [📹 marusya.shiklina]

Have you ever had a story idea that was too disturbing/depressing to write?

@Nyathera2 @SarahTheHaider There's nuances about what he should do instead, which people consistently fail to understand when they say useless nonsense like "I would rather kill myself".

@OziomaRosemary @PlotWeaver It's rare though :-) And I do use it myself to find typos or rather it just does and I'm happy about it. But in general I'd trust a regular word processor more - I just don't like to use them for typing.

A reader DMed me sometimes last month. She is convinced one of my books was written with AI. 😭 Her evidence? “No errors.” She said she had read my earliest works and remembered they were sprinkled with errors. Mind you, those were the days when I was struggling financially and couldn’t afford a good editor. According to her, she misses the days when she could spot mistakes in my books. To be sure, I asked if there were any other signs that the book was AI-generated. She said no. In fact, she admitted the story felt human, fluid, and emotionally real. But apparently, a 420-page book with no noticeable errors is “too perfect” to be written by a human being. My brothers and sisters, I gave up. I almost sent her my editor’s contact… but on second thought, naaah. Not worth it. She enjoyed the story though. 😂
Timi_deeney@ayinde_omot2504

@ulxma funny thing is that half the internet now reads “correct grammar” as ai and “broken grammar” as human 😭 we’ve basically trained ourselves to write worse just to look real.

@GonzDaGreat @SarahTheHaider She is not some random person like You and me. She has 132k followers. With great power comes great responsibility ;-) The outrage is coming regardless, true, but not always at the same scale.

@rokkbert @SarahTheHaider I think your pt is to attempt to be clear/succinct in anticipation of misinterpreted outrage to mitigate blowback on incendiary topics. But the outrage is coming regardless. I disagree w/Sarah on this & her reaction. Say what you feel but the outrage (right/wrong) is predictable
Gonzo the Great@GonzDaGreat

@SarahTheHaider Nah. you say what you feel. Yesterday when you saw predictable condemnation of the BBC’s sympathetic article, you felt unnaturally obliged to defend it, seeing the reaction as unfounded from “morally righteous mouth-breathers,” who didn’t read it. But this seems a likely outcome

@charbar96 @SarahTheHaider First of all I was referring to article and the BBC. Secondly: other people still manage to not sell their daughters. And what about the "buyers"?

@GonzDaGreat @SarahTheHaider I don't know her so I have no former opinion. And of course I "dont need" to in a general sense. I can also just let the internet explode in my face and have my potential contribution to the discussion buried in the outrage noise that follows :-)

@rokkbert @SarahTheHaider I disagree. One doesn’t need to be careful. They say what they believe when they’re of good faith. I agree pitchforks & torches are part of X. Sometimes we have novel insights, but once & a while we miss. Sarah is reasonable, thoughtful & astute. IMO she missed here. It happens

@jahanzibwesa And that is totally culture and/or religion, because it would never happen in most places we consider to be more civilized. And if it would, then the man would be a criminal and he would have to hide the girl in the basement in order to not go to prison immediately.

@jahanzibwesa You might argue that it's complex for the fathers... but where's the complexity for the _buyer_? If you buy a "child bride" from your cousin instead of just fucking helping him to not starve then I'm really curious for the excuse...

An Afghan father says he may be forced to sell his seven year old daughter into marriage just to feed his family. This is not culture or religion. After 2021 15 August people of Afghanistan face Poverty, hunger, unemployment, and hopelessness are forcing families into heartbreaking situations. Media should not present this as Afghan culture or religion. No parent wants this for their child. This is the result of extreme poverty, lack of work, and the collapse of hope for millions of people in Afghanistan. Children are not for sale. Afghan girls deserve safety, education, dignity, and a future free from fear and desperation. The world must not normalize this suffering or stay silent while families are pushed beyond survival.

@OziomaRosemary Also, we have had spellchecking software for decades... today it even catches most grammar issues as well. It's not that hard to scroll through a manuscript and look for all the red snaky lines...

@TurtleMonkey10 @TheZobbo @SarahTheHaider Leaving aside the pure barbarism of this shit... if a man spends a lot of money on buying himself a girl (BBC says "feeds family for 4 years"), why would he then be so stupid to just murder her on the first night? These men are truly fucked up in their head.

@rokkbert @starbatsarah1 @SarahTheHaider You can actually know what people think quite easily. These are cultures with an average IQ of 60. Just for reference the average Gorilla in a zoo is 80IQ-100IQ. These people are thinking about conquest, mayhem and R*pe. Give them Billions? They stay the same, nothing changes

Dear fellow people who can speak other languages: is it pretentious to pronounce foreign words right? Like, I don't want to say 'Van goff' or 'Van Go' for Van Gogh, because that's not how it's said but do I sound a dick if I say Fon Hockh with the throat sound?

@shamak3r @TheZobbo @SarahTheHaider I think we are really drifting here because none of that is related to the question of whether these kids deserve our empathy or whether it would help to kill their fathers (and the asshole of a girl-buying relative).

@rokkbert @TheZobbo @SarahTheHaider The US under bush and Obama did the damage while forcing our countries to follow their orders still doesn't excuse allowing them in knowing the risk that would put to europeans and it showed the crimes that they have committed daily is by far the most disgusting especially in DE

Am I alone in thinking that it's insane for someone to brag about making a ton of $ from selling books (like millions in profit), and then say, "... pay for my course..."? If by some miracle I make bank with my books and I decide to explain how to do it too, it's gonna be free.
