@LV_portals lvportals.lv/viedokli/38848…

The Soviet Union officially admitted responsibility for the 1940 Katyn Massacre came on April 13, 1990 (Good Friday), after nearly 50 years of denial in which the Soviets had blamed Nazi Germany for murdering the 22 000 Polish military officers. The truth was released in connection with Polish President and former communist dictator Wojciech Jaruzelski meeting Gorbachev in Moscow. The official Soviet news agency TASS issued a statement on the afternoon of April 13th 1990, revealing that newly discovered archival materials showed that the NKVD was directly responsible for the 1940 executions of Polish POWs. In a Kremlin ceremony later that day, Gorbachev personally handed Jaruzelski cartons and folders of declassified NKVD documents proving Soviet guilt. Poland welcomed the admission as a long-overdue step, though many Poles noted it was limited (blaming only Beria’s circle, not fully reckoning with the scale or Stalin’s role at first). The full “smoking gun” documents, including the March 5th 1940 Politburo execution order signed by Stalin, were handed over to the Poles later under Boris Yeltsin’s presidency. Today, many Russian yet again negate Soviet guilt for the mass murder.

GOOGLE BUILT A SECRET WEAPON FOR FILE DETECTION they ran it internally for years, gmail, drive, safe browsing, hundreds of billions of files every week then they open sourced it it's called magika and it exposes what files really are, not what they pretend to be rename malware to "resume.pdf"? magika sees through it disguise a script as an image? magika sees through it any trick attackers use with file extensions? magika sees through all of it ai trained on 100 million files. 200+ content types. 99% accuracy. 5ms per file one command `pip install magika` the same tool protecting google's billion users is now protecting yours github.com/google/magika

nginx is boring. yeah i said it. but low-key it does things most devs have never touched Rate limiting - built in, no plugin needed. limit_req_zone + limit_req. Stops abuse before it hits your app. literally free DDoS protection. Microcaching - cache responses for just 1 second. sounds useless, isnt. under a traffic spike your backend goes from 10k rps to basically 0. wild. geo module - map IPs to variables by country/region. block traffic, redirect, or serve different content. no code, just config. try_files - serve static → fallback → proxy, in one line. SPAs love this. most devs hardcode what nginx already handles natively sub_filter - rewrite response body on the fly. swap strings in HTML before it hits the client. useful for legacy apps you cant touch the source of. upstream health checks (nginx plus) + max_fails/fail_timeout in OSS - nginx will pull a dead backend out of rotation automatically. your users never see it. nginx has been doing edge logic since before "edge" was a buzzword. its not boring. you just haven't read the docs)) And a few nginx commands that actually matter in prod nginx -t — test config before reloading nginx -s reload — zero-downtime reload nginx -T — dump full parsed config (I use this all the time) curl -s localhost/nginx_status — live connection count by status (requires stub_status on in config) #nginx #devops #webdev #backend #sysadmin #selfhosted #linux

This is one of the best innovations to object storage. You need to understand what they did here. A lot of current systems and workflows will simplify because of this. Follow this line of thought: - AWS S3 forever has been a blob/object storage, flat paths, no file navigation. - S3 API had a lot of friction. You would need to find the file you were looking for, download it, then use it. - They have now introduced S3 files which is a shared file system that lets you access S3 data as regular files and directories. - You can launch an EC2 instance and mount it. The files become available in /mnt/whatever. Also available on Lambda and a bunch of other services! - High Performance Storage: Your actively used data lives on a "high-performance file system" - S3 Files keeps it in sync with the linked S3 bucket automatically. Small files (<128 KB) loads super fast. This threshold can be configured. - Larger files have only their metadata imported. Their data is read directly from S3 on demand. - You can navigate through the files using standard fs commands like ls, grep etc. Reads are instant after the data has been synced in the high performance layer. Writes get synced back to your S3 bucket in batches. - The rabbit hole goes deeper: New files become new S3 objects, edits become new object versions, deletions become S3 delete markers. - You have POSIX permissions (owner, group, permission bits) - you can do chmod and chown and all that. These are stored as S3 object metadata. - You wont need to learn all the `aws s3 cp` stuff and just run `cp` if you are dealing with s3 files. - see the attached screenshots of read/write throughput, and it is honestly insane engineering Why THIS MEANS THE WORLD to your agents - This is great for a lot of human workflows already (log analysis is easier now, you can view pictures/small videos easier, etc etc), but it gets even better for agents - You no longer need to replicate the entire S3 bucket as a file system for your agent to access - Agents dont need to run aws commands - Agents can just treat it as a file system layer now, and run commands they are trained on: ls, cat, grep they all work. - AWS takes care of low latency for "hot" data + all the syncing stuff - ASYNC agentic workloads are faster and frictionless now - one agent reads data, another agent from a different EC2 instance writes it, this all can happen. Imo this makes directly using S3 practical for small teams and indie devs, because you dont need to write a bunch of boilerplate and adapters to setup environments anymore.

For two decades, S3 has been an object store, but today it's something broader. S3 Files lets you mount any bucket as a filesystem—no copies, no sync scripts, no choosing between file and object. @andywarfield tells the full story, including the "filerectories" that almost made the cut. allthingsdistributed.com/2026/04/s3-fil…

A really big S3 announcement - #S3 Files!! If you've ever had to copy data out of S3 just so a file-based tool could use it, you know the frustration. S3 Files lets you mount S3 buckets as file systems directly, no data duplication, no sync pipelines, no workarounds. Your data stays in S3 while apps access it natively. This looks really useful and a nice improvement over previous approaches like S3 Mount Point. AI agents, ML pipelines, and traditional file-based applications can all read and write to S3 as a file system without code changes. #aws #S3Files lckhd.eu/yt6Tz5
