Fawzia, a Yazidi girl kidnapped by ISIS from Iraq and brought to Gaza at just 11 years old, has finally been rescued by the Israeli security forces. For years, she was held captive by a Palestinian Hamas-ISIS member. She has now been reunited with her family. @teamoncology @ASCO @DrEricWiner This is my fist #ASCO meeting. Despite the throng of the 40,000 attendees I saw today, I rarely saw African Americans. Yes EDI is critical.

The equity, inclusion, and diversity breakfast at the @ASCO annual meeting provided an amazing story. Two key agendas of ASCO are to push EDI and International impact. @DrEricWiner states providing access is more important than or equally important to developing new treatments. #ASCO24

Off to #ASCO. I’ll give a presentation on our study using CBPR: African Americans created a training program for clinicians to hear and respect the African American community’s perspectives, and to implement the community’s recommendations. So privileged to do this work.

Your Black, gay child and adolescent psychiatrist getting their name on the door. I had an office at ZSFG when I split time there but consolidated to our main campus last year and been bouncing offices. Only 2-3% of American psychiatrists are Black. Honored to be one of them.💖
