“You’d be hard-pressed to design a worse system.” —- @RonHira on the H-1B visa program. Corporations don’t hire H-1Bs to fill real shortages. “They hire them because guest workers have fewer rights, can be paid less, and are easier to control.” It’s a no-brainer for companies. Sold as a merit-based program for the “best and brightest.” Delivered as a cheap, controllable labor arbitrage tool. “It has nothing to do with merit or competence. And it’s not the best and brightest. These are ordinary skilled workers.” America First means American workers first. Time to fix this rigged system. @SecRubio @realDonaldTrump @SenEricSchmitt @gosar @tommcclintock @americanmoment

@SanDiegoKnight @RonHira The U.S. creates ~2–3 MILLION jobs every year. New H-1Bs? ~85,000. This is all very bizarre, and short term thinking.

Every Sunday, the print classifieds in metro newspapers are full of listings for tech jobs that aren't actually open. It's a window into a deeply flawed corner of US immigration law that hurts both US and foreign workers, yet has endured for decades. I decided to explore further:

“Americans fired… then forced to train their own cheaper H-1B replacements.” Ron Hira is making a very specific, pointed policy critique: He’s calling out the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) for failing to reissue its own January 2021 policy that closed a major H-1B outsourcing loophole. What the loophole allowed: Companies (e.g., Disney, University of California, and others) could fire American workers and force them to train their own H-1B replacements …but do it indirectly by “laundering” the H-1B hires through an outsourcing/body shop firm. • The customer company didn’t file the LCA (Labor Condition Application) themselves. • The outsourcer filed it instead. • This let the client company technically avoid direct responsibility while still replacing Americans with cheaper H-1B labor. One simple policy fix that @SecretaryLCD could do today with a pen stroke. Why is this still allowed in 2026? Americans shouldn’t have to train their own replacements. Close the loophole. Protect U.S. workers. America First means ending these scams.

Why hasn't @USDOL reissued its Jan 2021 policy closing H-1B Outsourcing Loophole? Customers file LCAs Disney & UC exploited loophole to force their American workers train H1B replacements by laundering H-1B hiring via outsourcer Major reform that @SecretaryLCD can do today 👇👇

@davidwasinger So solve the problem instead of admiring it. Require employers post the job opening. Not hard. What say you?

We have plenty of qualified Missourians. H1-B program is corrupt. I am going to check into this.
Chris Brunet@chrisbrunet

Missouri University (@Mizzou) just posted a notice of intent to hire an H-1B Strategic Communications Associate Salary: $64,000 Nobody in America was qualified for this job.

H-1B has nothing to do with filling workforce shortages Congress & Administrative State have _intentionally_ crafted it to supply cheap indentured labor to undercut and replace American workers Its implementation violates every principle for designing a guest worker program

Important piece by @AlecMacGillis on employers brazenly bypassing US workers to convert H-1B workers to greencards Violating the law in plain sight with @USDOL's approval Widespread practice undermines the premise & legitimacy that employer-based immigration fills labor shortages

82% of Microsoft's H-1B approvals are for Entry-level or Minimally Qualified Guestworkers: @USDOL data Positions pay < average wage Proof H1B visa = ZERO connection to merit or best & brightest Mass layoffs = ZERO link to shortages @SecretaryLCD @jdvance @RealTheoWold 👇👇👇

Prof Wolfers repeats FALSE claims about H-1B protections Employers do NOT need to recruit or consider American workers before hiring H1B Core of debate is about deficient worker protections Invents nonexistent protections Elites can't be bothered learning the rules, you suckers
Justin Wolfers@JustinWolfers

If H‑1Bs “took jobs,” you’d expect lower wages for U.S. grads. The best available studies show the opposite: 1990–2010 H‑1B inflows raised wages of American college grads by 4.2% and non‑college by ~2%, with native employment unchanged. Think complements, not substitutes.

American workers train H-1B guestworker replacements NOT vice versa So common H1B firms dub it "knowledge transfer" It's a science: videotape, record keystrokes MUST‼️ watch Senate testimony by Disney's Leo Perrero Trump campaigned with Leo in 2016 on H-1B abuse 👇👇👇

You may have heard about the H-1B scam, but have you heard about the OPT program? Never authorized by Congress & expanded by Obama, OPT floods the market with tax-exempt jobs for foreign students—leaving American students at a disadvantage. I'm leading S. 2821 to end this mess.
NumbersUSA@NumbersUSA

The OPT program gives employers discounts for NOT hiring Americans. It has grown by 400% in recent years and is now larger than the H-1B program. Watch our video exposing the this insane program and why it must end:
