As I went on to look into the myth in the woven textile design, the metaphor nonetheless struck, and as the metaphor looked out of the nest, memories had to make their way too. For Ikat to be the subject matter for sociological analysis, the distinction of general vs particular, subject vs object had to be resolved. While sociological enquiry towards understanding Ikat motif as a product of continuity and change, is possible through the lens of theories of culture and signification, the sociological analysis of motifs in Odishan Ikat contributes towards a continuously reconstructed sociology.#Sociology #Odisha #Ikat #textileart
