On the second day of the State Level Tribal Healers’ Meet 2025, the participating healers visited Raj Bhavan and interacted with the Hon’ble Governor of Odisha. Hon’ble Governor appreciated their nature-based healing traditions and the profound environmental knowledge that underpins their medicinal practices.
During the interaction, the healers shared insights into their indigenous methods, community-based treatments, and the challenges they face in collecting medicinal resources amid climate change and declining plant availability. The Hon’ble Governor emphasised the need to preserve traditional knowledge through systematic documentation, enhanced coordination with the Forest Department, and the identification and conservation of key medicinal plant habitats. He conveyed his best wishes for the continued growth of their healing traditions and ongoing efforts in resource conservation.
Smt. Roopa Roshan Sahoo, IAS, Secretary to the Hon’ble Governor; Shri Sudhakar Sabaro, Director, SCSTRTI; Shri Padma Charan Nayak, Joint Director, SCSTRTI; Shri Santosh Kumar Rath, Deputy Director; and other senior officials were also present during the interaction.
