Yesterday, I joined a business roundtable in Michigan to make the case for tariff-free trade between the U.S. and Canada so we can protect workers on both sides of the border. Michigan and Ontario are linked by trade, family and friendship and we are better off when we work together.

Explain to me why Doug Ford wants to expand Billy Bishop Airport? Where's the economic data? Where does the 10M passenger/year number come from? How does the expansion work with all the other waterfront plans? Doug Ford wants a bigger airport. End of story.

Parking lots and massive runways shouldn’t pave over what we love on our city’s waterfront. There’s a balance of uses now between the existing airport, nearby parks and livable communities. We can’t let Doug Ford screw it up.

At last weeks Canada's Building Trades Unions’ (@CDNTrades) Conference in Gatineau, we highlighted Ontario’s leadership in aligning health and safety training across provinces so workers can get on the job faster, without repeating training, while maintaining the high standards that keep them safe. From our work in the Legislature to collaboration with provincial Labour Ministers across the country, we are reducing duplication, strengthening a consistent safety culture, and helping workers get where they are needed most, because safety is non-negotiable.

At the First Nations Major Projects Coalition Conference, I spoke about how our plan to protect Ontario is getting new energy infrastructure, mines, highways and other transformational, job-creating projects built in partnership with First Nations. That includes the road to the Ring of Fire, which is on track to have shovels in the ground next month, fully five years ahead of schedule.

The grand opening of Fresh Start Support Services’ House of Homes was a powerful reminder of just how important this project is for St. Thomas. This is supportive housing at its best. More than simply providing a roof overhead, House of Homes offers women and children practical assistance, emotional support, and access to the essential resources they need to build a brighter future.
