We need stronger passenger bills of rights in Canada. @AirCanada just strengthened my resolve tonight. I can manage what just happened to me. A cash strapped family of five going to a funeral or attend to a family emergency could not.

@mattgurney Trudeau is directly responsible for the demise of Energy East. It will take decades of solid regulatory certainty before any business will contemplate a similar project. Squandered opportunity for nation building and diversification of our customer base.

Trudeau is not responsible for most of what ails us today. He’s responsible for spending the final few years of his mandate in stunfucked stasis while the world around us changed and we did sweet fuck all to adapt.

I created this GDP per capita chart for the American States and Provinces. Based on 2024 data. Alberta, right out of the gate, would be a powerhouse state. Without Ottawa dragging us down, Alberta would probably be a top 10 states in no time. 7 Canadian provinces would be at the bottom, lower than dirt-poor Mississippi

@Martyupnorth_2 The best thing for confederation would be to cut them off. Time for the rest of Canada to stop being a deadbeat. I was happy with notion of equalization when they weren't blocking resource development, but now?

@SonyaSharpYYC The northern terminus should be Stampede. Riders can quickly walk across the platform and transfer onto a train that’ll take them in to the core. Similar setups exist everywhere. Would save billions by not entering the core, and meets the main objective which is serving the South

Councillor McLean and I fought to keep the Green Line alive last fall, and again in January. Cancelling it would've cost Calgarians at least $850M in contract penalties, wasted $1.4B already spent, lost billions in funding from other orders of government, and wiped out 1,000 local jobs. Is it perfect? No. But we’d rather lay track than waste taxpayer dollars on nothing.  Pending approval from the provincial and federal governments, the next steps will be breaking ground in the south this year, plus starting to engage with business owners and residents downtown to refine the plan. After more than a decade of debate, and some questionable decisions from past Councils (like buying cars before laying track), it’s time to shift from talk to action. #yyccc #GreenLineYYC
