@JasonGregor @MLarkinHockey As a guy who lived in several 🇨🇦 hockey markets and then Miami for 6 years, I can tell you the tax break is huge. But also, when you are tired and beat up in January, it certainly feels better walking the dog in sunshine and warmth over rain or snow. There’s a mental aspect too

maybe they got better MGMT. TB unreal scouting, but all of their big stars, when signed, were top 3-8 paid at their position. No real hometown discount.
FLA unreal trading under Zito. Prior to Zito Panthers won nothing. In cap era only two of those teams are in the top 15 in playoff games played. FLA isn't one.

4. Marner has never taken a hometown discount.
5. He’s not built for pressure. See every single playoff.

Some facts:
1. Mitch Marner is not an elite player. Those guys are in the Hart Trophy conversation. He’s not. However, He’s a really good player.
2. No tax states are game changers. As a guy who has worked in Toronto and Miami, your take home is MUCH nicer in FLA.
