If the Yankees are to activate Trent Grisham on Friday, I don't know who the Yankees "should" send down out of Dominguez and Jones, but here are my thoughts.
They both have produced roughly the same offensively at the major league level this year. We know about the defense.
Because they hit Dominguez between 2-5th in the lineup daily, he was called up first earlier this year, and plays vs. both sides, I think they will keep him up.
I don't think it's a deciding factor but if Jones is dealing with food poisoning, it might give them another reason to send him down because of availability.

@NHLFoley So you make a 2yr commitment, and yet, you can better deal anyone without a penalty. If you aren’t prepared to make a 2yr commitment then don’t make it - there were plenty of kids who were willing to honor such a commitment.

@SchlossmanGF The bulket has to be bitten. If you grandfather kids in, then you create no capacity for future grads and then you run the risk of them not getting a slot or coaches having to cut established players. It’s a tough deal all around. The NCAA wants to get younger

If it goes through like this, then 2024 and 2025 high school graduates who are planning to play junior hockey this upcoming season will not have four years of eligibility. 2024 grads would have two. 2025 grads would have three.

The NCAA sent this to institutions today on age-based implementation. If you graduate HS this year, your eligibility clock starts this fall. There’s a small runway for 2026 freshmen (in hockey mostly 05s and 06s) to enroll this year and play under the old rules.

@NathanPStrauss For 99% of these kids, they will not make $ playing hockey. And so instead of starting their career at 22, they start at 25 or 26….several years after their peers. Seems like a big oppty cost to me.

i think normal parents want their kids to have the most successful, enriching path they can, which for many is playing a full course of juniors before a full 4 years of college
