@MartynPercy The Diocese and Cathedral are correct, so by process of elimination... You might also ask why the CofE would be so keen to avoid a request for a JR potentially being granted, and the precedent that could set for other JRs of other cases.

…still leaves us with a diocese and cathedral claiming they didn’t pay up. That leaves the Archbishops’ Council and/or the Church Commissioners as potential sources. I think it is fair and reasonable to ask where the payoff came from.
Rowena Pailing@rowena_pailing

@ebenezer1954 @jenstirrup @Richard_Scorer @MartynPercy There was not a judicial review, and therefore no outcome. Requesting a JR does not guarantee that one will happen, but payment was made before it got to that stage anyway. Church Times reporting has been misleading, but you will understand I can't comment further.

Fact. None have started and none of the ISB 11 are receiving any support whatsoever from Archbishops’ Council. There is no timetable to start these reviews, let alone complete them. Archbishops’ Council do not engage with those victims that their actions and policies produce.
MartinSewell@SewellMartin

Feb 2024 Question by Nicola Denyer (Newcastle) (Q155): Asked how many of the 11 outstanding ISB reviews have been completed. Answer: GS Misc 1393 sets out the progress, but confidentiality prevents disclosure of individual review status. Real answer - none Current answer - none

Important @GavinDrake letter to @CottrellStephen. He asks Stephen to live out the words of his Epiphany letter about transparency & reform @churchofengland re safeguarding & treatment of victims of abuse. Gavin asks: 1) How many clergy who have risk assessments in place hold a license & did the Archbishops’ council discuss the case at Blackburn Cathedral? @rowena_pailing one for you. 2) How much money have bishops & dioceses received for legal fees re issues of abuse from @ccsforengland & can @UKParliament know? @MarshadeCordova one for you. 3) With whom @churchofengland are the @ChtyCommission working on the presenting issues? Does it include William Nye? 4) Could we have transparency about the status of @seaofcomplicity @Richard_Scorer complaints into William Nye and how he operates? Gavin concludes: “If you refuse to answer these questions, then we will know for sure that despite these latest “fine words”, no action will follow and your words at epiphany are as hollow as your words have been over the years.”
Steve Reeves@SteveReevesUK

An open letter to Stephen Cottrell, Archbishop of York, from former General Synod member Gavin Drake. "If your commitment to becoming an accountable church is more than “fine words”, you should have no problem answering my questions." churchabuse.uk/2025/01/09/an-…

What role are women playing in the reform of safeguarding within the Church of England? As the Archbishop of Canterbury finishes his duties today & steps down, @BBCNuala speaks to the BBC's @AleemMaqbool, & former members of the C of E clergy, Rowena Pailing & Rev. Jenny Penn ⬇️

Today’s @BBCWomansHour should be well worth a listen for those interested in reforming @churchofengland cultures in relation to safeguarding & abuse. @BBCNuala joined by @AleemMaqbool along with @rowena_pailing who resigned from ministry at Blackburn Cathedral because of safeguarding concerns & Jenny Penn who helped bring the David Tudor abuse & how that was dealt with to public attention.

I resigned from the CofE as part of my challenge to the cover up of abuse in Blackburn. @JustinWelby has not resigned or challenged. In fact he seems happy to perpetuate the cover ups of Smythe, Blackburn and many more. The tragedy of #Makin is that it says nothing surprising.
Rowena Pailing@rowena_pailing

I've been very quiet since leaving C of E ministry, but I always guessed this story would be told one day. I was reluctant to be interviewed as it's not my story. It's that of the victims and survivors, and others in Blackburn tried to tell it sooner. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

@rowena_pailing @HannahBarraclo8 @SandsUK I'll drop you an email this week if that's ok, Rowena? We're giving our service a bit of an overhaul so some fresh material would be so helpful. Hope the nest isn't too quiet!
