I've made many good decisions in my professional life & one of the best is working alongside this incredible journalist & even better human. Strong, intelligent, compassionate, curious and funny... she is everything I could hope for in an on-air partner. Congratulations Sophie!

Make no mistake, Republican policies are designed to put women, children, and pregnant people in danger—this is a feature, not a bug. In other words, it is their 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣. Recently in Oklahoma, a woman’s molar pregnancy became cancerous. Molar pregnancies usually do not produce a fetus and, in the cases in which they do, the fetus is not viable. No matter what the doctors had done in this case, there would have been no baby. And yet, when Jaci Statton went to the emergency room—in pain and bleeding heavily—hospital staff told her to wait in the parking lot until she became so ill doctors would have no choice but to treat her. “Unless you are crashing in front of us or your blood pressure goes so high that you are fixing to have a heart attack,” she was told, we cannot help you. Republicans do not care that someone who has an unviable pregnancy will DIE if they don’t have access to an abortion. Republicans don’t care if denying health care results in infertility. The platform of the Republican Party is cruelty; it is misogyny; it is control. And we need to fight against them with all of our strength. 🧵
