@anoncdn_123 @9781118555927_ @Bratt_world Wrong. A majority vote in a referendum cannot strip away a minority's constitutionally protected rights. The courts have repeatedly ruled that democracy isn't just "majority rules" when it comes to Section 35 Aboriginal Title and Rights Education goes both ways.

@anoncdn_123 @9781118555927_ @Bratt_world That’s legally incorrect. Section 35 of the Constitution recognizes Aboriginal Title as a collective land rights —it does not depend on fee simple The SC mandates consultation you missed it - accommodation. Governments cannot ignore constitutional rights for a majority vote.

@9781118555927_ @Bratt_world They have a right to be consulted. That is it. And once they are consulted, the government can choose what ever is best for the majority of the electorate because native people do not hold land rights, unless they individually bought their house and land.

@Bratt_world Regardless, they make up 5% of the population therefore they get 5% of the say, not 100%, as they are acting. That would be Un Democratic and against the law.

@Bratt_world Untrue, as you well know. But, also... Over 100,000 First Nations actually SIGNED the Separation petition. I'm proudly one of them. Fuck the Liberal/Soros bribed Chiefs.

@Futbollfan @Bratt_world @rockyoscar71 Why is that? Oh yeah - the disparity is driven by systemic healthcare racism, poverty, inadequate housing, the Canadian drug crisis and the ongoing trauma of colonization

@maythefourth69 @Nerfaphytum @Bratt_world I’ve been to Sturgeon Lake Nation plenty of times as a guest. It’s a beautiful place, filled with many wonderful caring and giving people - I never felt unsafe for even a moment.

@Nerfaphytum @Bratt_world I'm from the area and the Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation is the worst group of ambulance chasers in the country. That place is a wasteland. Unsafe for anyone to enter. And that's been the case for 50 years. They deserve better.

@maythefourth69 @Bratt_world For their own sovereignty maybe.. not for the racist and ignorant Alberta Separatist who would like to be the new ‘Masters’ this is a great reminder for all Canadian to remember - You are on Native Land! Seems you do need land acknowledgements to remember that.

@Bratt_world 46% of them support independence. Most supporters chose not to sign a petition for fear retribution and obvious confidence in getting over 177K signatures.

Good morning. Quick update: the courts took one look at that referendum push and said “no thanks.” Petition denied. Game over before it even started. Turns out you don’t just get to break up a country because you’re in a mood. There are rules. There are laws. And they apply to everyone. All that talk, all that buildup, and it didn’t even make it onto the field. Anyway, Canada’s still here. Functioning. Intact. Not going anywhere. You’re still part of it, whether you like it or not. Welcome back. 🇨🇦

Land acknowledgements don’t hurt people. But this brand of anti-reconciliation, denialism-light, and hate absolutely does. This kind of posturing is a distraction from a politics that doesn’t actually solutions for actual problems

With today's decisive court ruling by Justice Leonard halting the Stay Free Alberta petition over unconsulted First Nations treaty rights under Treaties 6, 7, and 8 plus deep constitutional flaws, the separatist movement has taken a much deserved devastating hit that makes any comeback look nearly impossible—even if Premier Smith slips the question onto the October 2026 ballot. - The hardest challenges form an unbreakable wall: Supreme Court-mandated negotiations requiring clear majorities and consent from Ottawa, all provinces, and Indigenous nations; stubbornly low support stuck at 15-20% with real Albertans firmly opposed; and brutal economic fallout like investment flight, heavy recession risks, landlocked trade issues, and billions in new costs for currency, debt, and borders. Separatists should be questioning themselves for actually believing this fringe idea ever has a real chance amid years of inevitable legal gridlock and appeals. Thank you to the judge for defending the rule of law, and thank you to our First Nations for bringing this to the light so we all could see how unjust this movement was; Canada and REAL Albertans stand tall together, our shared democracy and strength proving just how galvanized we are. 🇨🇦 #canpoli

And yet @LukaszukAB got it right with Forever Canadian. How is it that you know better than the judge? Seriously, who do you think you are? You have a legal petition. Get on it.

@PeregrinePulp @BackstageInfamy @BillboardChris And again - we don't know how half of them died. The TRC reveals that the government failed to record a cause of death for 49% of the children. For 32%, they didn't even write down a name. Many in unmarked graves -The paper trail doesn't prove care; it proves systemic neglect

It is indeed essential that you keep shifting the conversation all over the place. You're aware that there's a huge paper trail for all of this. We have books from former students at Kamloops, we have the '93 commission at Kamloops... Hundreds and hundreds of pagest of first and secondhand testimony from many people who were actually there.

Peter Milobar appears to be compromised when it comes to dealing with indigenous issues. He’s certainly compromised when it comes to telling the truth. To this day, Milobar (BC Conservative MLA for Kamloops Centre, former mayor, and leadership candidate) refuses to call out the 2021 Kamloops 215 “graves” announcement as a hoax. He has repeatedly pushed back against “residential school denialism,” defended the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc (Kamloops indigenous band) narrative, and criticized party colleagues who questioned the lack of any confirmed remains. thetyee.ca/News/2025/03/0… It’s reasonable to ask what influence his family has on this. His daughter, Dylana Kneeshaw, wrote this article for the Lethbridge News, claiming that bodies of children as young as 3 years old were found buried at the former residential school. Zero evidence. 100% lie. lethbridgenewsnow.com/2021/05/27/unt… His daughter and son-in-law — a member of the Kamloops indigenous band — modelled t-shirts promoting the mass grave hoax. In 2025, Milobar spoke against “denialism” after Dallas Brodie posted that the number of confirmed child burials at the site was zero. Since when is truth an act of denial? Milobar referenced a promise to a former Kamloops band leader (Manny Jules) to be a voice pushing back against skepticism in the chamber. b100.ca/2025/02/26/kee… How can this man be trusted to lead B.C. at a time when private property rights are under attack by indigenous bands across the province?

@Gatorgolf11 @theprovince No The Indian Act didn't trade land for welfare. Treaties and the act are different things. Treaties signed were signed with the crown and are legally binding, constitutional contracts for sharing land—treaty annuities are legal debts, not handouts.

@rrmkml @theprovince Mmhmmm and it’s a benefit to natives that is collected and cashed in exchange for the Indian act that signed over the land to the crown. I’m not sure what you’re missing here you literally just said exactly this in this post.
