@ScoringChanges @astros @Angels So, for us stringers, is it just an advanced on play? It's not a sac fly due to its depth and catch by an infielder; is that correct? Is it akin to a ground out where a runner on third scores - batter goes 0/1 but gets the RBI?

This is the winning run from tonight’s @astros at @Angels game, and this was scored as an error, so there is no RBI and it wouldn’t have been a sacrifice fly anyway because this is caught by in infielder not running into the outfield. However, this was ruled a missed catch error on the catcher Logan O’Hoppe and this will get changed immediately on appeal. The only way this is a missed catch error on the catcher is if this ball is dropped or missed on a fly, or if the hop was long enough that it’s considered a routine effort play. This ball short hopped O’Hoppe, so this will get changed, potentially from a rules check with @EliasSports, but this isn’t an error on the catcher. #ChaseTheFight #RepTheHalo

@Brett_A_Taylor I thought it was strange that he positioned himself to pick that on the backhand anyway. That seems to be the "flashy" way to play it rather than the fundamentally sound way. It would make sense if the runner to 1st was exceptionally fast, but he had time to play it straight up.

@burnsieoriginal @Chasenpucks39 Burnsie, that's my hometown team! I grew up watching the two of them tear up the IHL. Home games were absolute events!! That IHL era had some tough customers - Stu Grimson, Warren Rychel, Mike Peluso, Shane Churla, Kerry Clark, Link Gaetz, Kevin Evans!!

@ScoringChanges I completely agree with your interpretation of the rule. As a fellow scorer, how does the advancement from third to home get scored? The batter doesn't get credit for a sac fly, so is it just advanced on play?

I came across some really clean sets today from the junk era and and I couldn’t resist. The era between 1990-1993 brings back such great memories for me and some of the cards just transport me there temporarily you know. Anyway, the first one is 1992/93 Upper Deck, classic set for any card collector at the time and a must have. 640 cards complete. Let me know who you want to see.
