@WatchMyReview @TalkeyHockey I would usually agree with that statement but in situations leafs are in you can get teams 2/3/4 putting in great packages for #1 and we still draft best D and great package for the future or help now

@TalkeyHockey No. Always draft BPA if you get #1. Yes, a D is by far biggest need. But still draft GM

I stand by this. If you are Toronto and you win the lottery tonight, you offer McKenna to 2nd or 3rd overall, get some assets in return, and draft your future number 1 dman. If you draft McKenna, you're moving one of Knies or Cowan for a dman so you aren't even improving really

@WatchMyReview Really???? lol, let’s talk once the playoffs are over, didn’t see you bring this up last year when he was sitting in press box because of his horrible play. Even a blind squirrel catches a nut once in a while unless that squirrel is Jarnkrok

What Leafs should do: Sign Jack Roslovic, Kasperi kapanen, Brad Marchand. See what Marner comes back with (And he will) in regards to offers he has and decide. He'll ask permission to speak with teams before July 1st to keep the 8th year in Toronto as an option. Keep JT. If Marner leaves, look at players that obviously will be dumped for cheap (Marchment, Seguin in Dallas, (Panarin, Zibanejad, Kerider). Fire Kampf, Jarnkrok, Reaves into the sun. No one with a NMC will waive, so forget about anything else.

@mikethefanatic That’s all true or you keep your pick this yr and draft a great young talented D and next yr you give your pick to the bruins in the 18-22. Now doesn’t that look much better, again it could but your scenario is also possible

People talking about how dark this season was for TOR. Little do they know, we haven’t even stepped into the darkness yet. Keep your pick this year? Cool. Then the next year you give up an unprotected 1st to BOS and then your 2028 1st goes to PHI. Pitch black darkness.

@Mainely_Leafs @ldl716 There’s absolutely no chance Danford plays in nhl next yr. He’s maybe 2 yrs away, hes not a nhl defenceman at this stage

Stecher battles harder than 90% of D-men I’ve ever watched. Honestly, he’s the perfect 7D on a playoff team. I’d take him back for that role and according $, but it’s a problem if he’s in your top 5. Or if he’s paid 1.3-2M.

@mcclxskey Can’t rebuild without having the most important part of a rebuild, your own 1st round picks to give you a chance at picking top 2 or 3 in draft

Should the Leafs rebuild or retool this offseason? Let’s define a rebuild as moving Matthews and Nylander for futures. Explain your vote in the comments.

@MuzzyX88 @davidalter The issue is giving away looser points, only sport that rewards loosing. It’s why every team feels like they can make it

@davidalter Lol I hate the divisional format as much as the next guy, but what does this have to do with "the system"? They're in 16th place. They have 91 points. Almost like they're exactly where they should be - on the bubble, eliminated in games 80-82. Where's the issue?

@tfcdomination17 @CanadasLeafs Can rebuild if you don’t have your first round picks until 2028. That would defeat the purpose of being bad and rebuilding to just give our pick to bruins and flyers

If the Leafs win the lottery, do you take “the best player” or the “player you need most” if they are different? Also, if they are different, do you trade down to address that need?

@reypepee @nylanderthews You can’t rebuild without having your own draft picks, they would not have 27 pick ( would go to bruins) 28 to the flyers. The entire purpose of a rebuild is to be bad to get those top draft picks, can’t do that until 28. If you want a rebuild would be after 2028 or Mathews trade

@nylanderthews Desperately need a D no doubt, but If you get #1 you do not take the best D available. We aren’t 1 top D away, so many holes up & down the lineup. You take the best player available and rebuild. Retooling prolongs the inevitable.

@Mainely_Leafs @Leafs416_ Trade down to 3/4 and get some extra young help to this team and if leafs end up having a bad season again and Matthews won’t resign trade him and they are already ahead on the rebuild

@KwnStorm Assuming they are indeed retooling not rebuilding and get the first overall, I would look to trade down to 3/4 and turn that retool into 2/3 top end young players and if the year goes bad and Mathews decides that is not resigning leafs already have a head start .

If Leafs somehow lucked into the 1st OA spot, what do they do? Draft McKenna? Trade to 2nd or 3rd and draft a stud D + all the assets you got back from the first trade? I feel like drafting McKenna is the smart play but we’re in need of a stud, no. 1 D man.

@CanadasLeafs He needs to find the right people with a plan on what needs yo be done to make that vision a reality. And nobody will sit a a press conference and tell reports and fans what the plan is going to be even if there’s one. He said nothing just like every press conference does

@CanadasLeafs A plan is execution of certain things that would need to happen to the team. Like he said he’s got no desire to make hockey decisions nor should you want him to. He can only have a vision of what he wants in place to accomplish his goal “ win the cup”.

After taking some time to fully digest the ENTIRE Pelley presser, I can comfortably say that it was a disaster and this team has a lot of dark years ahead of them. When Tre couldn’t answer the question about having a plan, I understand it now. They have NO plan whatsoever.

@TalkeyHockey @Mainely_Leafs I watched him make the same mistakes as Jarnkrok, Domi, Lorentz but at least he’s a young kid what’s the excuse for those guys who still played 13 minutes.

@TalkeyHockey @Mainely_Leafs Nothing like playing a young kid in a game where you have nothing to gain but see if the young kids can play in nhl and you play him 4:30. Shame, no wonder every young player on the blues couldn’t stand him.

@Hey_ImDorion @Mainely_Leafs No he’s not a 3C but he’s also not capable to keep up with being a 2C. He should be playing on the wing, and not have to worry and try to keep up with all the things a C needs.
