@fousey How’s the AI coach? Are you finding it useful / used it to log meals and calories?

My Google Fitbit Air Arrived Early! Instantly took off my Oura Ring. Only used Oura for steps and sleep but had to take it off when working out so didn’t do what I wanted. LOVE the size and fit of the Air. It’s TINY. Barely feels like anything’s on and blends in with my arm and becomes barely noticeable. The ONE thing I’m interested in is, will it work being worn over my tattoos. That’s where Apple Watch lost me. So far so good so we will have to see. Let me know if you have any questions.

@mehul +1. Humanoid form is a double compromise, worse at most tasks than purpose-built alternatives, and quietly terrifying to kids who decide what stays in the house. Evolution landed on this shape under constraints that don't apply to machines. Wall-E >> Terminator

most humanoid demos are form looking for a function (problem) we invented machines to escape the limits of human form now we’re putting human form back into machines that’s odd humanoids will win when they’re built for a function that suites the human form until then…alas
Simon Kalouche@simonkalouche

Unfortunately Frank, Rose, Bob and Gary the humanoids all just lost their jobs to a pair of faster, lower cost, more reliable robot arms. Superhuman robots will beat humanoids for every industrial application with scale.

@manosaie Agree - it really concerns me how strong the whole narrative of permanent underclass has become

One of the unfortunate undertones of AI discourse right now is how much of the intrinsic motivation is motivated by either FOMO or chasing fast money In my opinion, one of the best things about this movement was that its opening chapter was defined by sheer curiosity and a childlike sense of play I think we need to return to that

this is maya speaking with real accents and dialects. when i first heard it, i loved the tone of the voice. it sounds the way people actually talk. it’s hard to explain until you hear it. the team absolutely cooked with this. a key step forward for maya’s voice interface.

@sravanti the "deeply personal to 1st/2nd gen but not pigeonholed" balance is interesting. have a toddler now and a lot of what you're describing maps onto questions I think about on the parenting side too - different problem but same underlying tension. will report back on the sampler!

Getting back to this now! I zeroed in on it basically working backwards from my own experience as an Indian-American who wanted a healthy snack that reflected my culture without feeling tooo Indian. I approached branding, the name etc through the lens of appealing to someone who's vaguely familiar with Indian culture (Indian weddings, chai, mango lassi) as a "culturally curious" consumer but still felt deeply personal to 1st & 2nd gen Indian-Americans. It's a tricky balance -- I'm still figuring it out -- but definitely trying to avoid pigeonholing myself into just a South Asian audience which I feel is a common trap.

My mango sourcing has taken me to random park benches in San Jose, peoples' houses in Newark....I have now sourced 5 Indian mango varietals 😈 All in service of our Indian-inspired protein bar brand launch for Samsara Nutrition! Our Golden Mango protein bar is the star of the show, but our mango tasting flight will be a close second 🥭

@VicVijayakumar At least you can just book those at 1.25x via the portal - the Amex points are useless unless I solo travel I’ve consolidated on the Coinbase 4% card and the united card for free checked bags

Drastically simplified our finances recently with 2 moves (money twitter pls tell me if this is stupid): - consolidated all spending onto the Fidelity 2% cashback credit card - started using our brokerage account as our checking account Paychecks goes directly into the brokerage. All bills get paid out of the brokerage account. -- Imaginary scenario: $30K roof replacement bill. If they take credit cards for no additional charge, I charge it to the card. CC bill is due in a month. Bills are always automatically paid in full so we don't owe interest. Now let’s say the bill is larger than the amount of cash we have. The balance gets automatically paid anyway using a margin loan. Our margin rate is lower than the credit card APR, and lower than our HELOC rate.

OpenAI raised $4B for a consulting (AKA deployment) firm. Anthropic raised $1.5B for theirs. McKinsey, Bain, and BCG affiliates are investing in OAI’s. Might as well own a piece of the thing shrinking your business! PE investors get a 17.5% pref return if their portcos use it.

When in the US, shopping works very differently compared to stores like Lifestyle or Shoppers Stop in India 😄 Nordstrom → Premium brands, mostly full price Macy's → Good collections with regular 20–30% discounts Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Ross Dress for Less, Nordstrom Rack → Overflow branded inventory sold at 40–75% off You can randomly find Boss, CK, Nike, Adidas, Levi’s, Tommy, Calvin Klein etc. at unbelievable prices. Only catch? Sizes and collections change daily every visit feels like a treasure hunt 😄
