Where women are included, progress becomes possible. Where women are supported, creativity flourishes. Where women are valued, society grows stronger. Let’s build a resilient, equitable, and inclusive creative sector in Rwanda. Big thanks to @RwandaBtS for valuing her work.

Women Creatives in Africa: Breaking Boundaries, Facing Barriers 🎶 Across Sub-Saharan Africa, women are stepping into creative spaces once seen as “male-only”from film directing and photography to DJ’ing and cinema production. Their growing participation shows the resilience and brilliance of African women who continue to shape our cultural and creative economy. But the challenges remain steep. Women creatives still grapple with systemic and institutional barriers, cultural expectations, unsupportive policies, gender pay gaps, unsafe workspaces, and limited access to funding and recognition. Too often, these hurdles result in insecurity, exploitation, and missed opportunities. To unlock the full potential of Africa’s creative economy, we need targeted interventions: stronger policies, safer workplaces, fair pay, mentorship, skills development, and financing pathways tailored to women. It will also take collaboration between creatives, policymakers, guilds, financiers, and employers to build an ecosystem where women not only participate, but thrive. The time is now to invest in women creatives because when women’s voices, stories, and artistry flourish, Africa’s creative future shines brighter. #WomenCreatives #CreativeEconomy #Africa #GenderEquality #Innovation #BehindTheScene Read more here👇 linkedin.com/posts/icrwafri…
