Several teams, including CAR, TB & DAL, were in the Panarin race near the end. I believe an extension would’ve gone along with Canes. Despite the trade offer by WAS, I don’t believe an extension was happening either them, DET or ANA. LA & Panarin are working on an extension now.

The media world’s stunned/shocked reaction to the awful WaPo layoffs shows that even now, so many in journalism still can’t believe billionaires aren’t going to rescue them. This is a wake up call: oligarchs are not the benevolent saviors media have long depicted them to be. The layoffs are awful, as have been so many others at lower profile, local outlets. I lament the hollowing out of this industry. It’s all a reminder that billionaires will not save us. Maybe the media coverage of them shouldn’t so often cast them as heroic saviors.
