@Brady_H There should be a minimum time time limit!! Too many weaklings come in and bail out after 4 mins, and don’t even get me started with the ones that go outside after 3 mins do the cold plunge and come back in.

I travel while running a lot, i can take a little pride on the experience i’ve acquired and the protocols i use to keep my circadian rythm in check and minimize the impacts of jet lag… Good rest is maximum priority, i believe amongst other things it has kept me injury free well into my 40’s running high volume, and most times you have to adjust training and intensities or even stop when things are not going well otherwise they might get worse. Now i see people chugging 20 grs of Creatine to supposedly counter the effects of sleep deprivation… Mistake, rest is king and cannot be substituted in my opinion.

Anecdotally, I’m fine on one bad night of sleep (and can nap later). But when a few days of poor sleep stack up, I’m better off catching up on sleep and skipping training or keeping it very light.
Running-Physio@tomgoom

Lack of sleep can impair performance & increase injury risk 😴 It’s important to ask patients about sleep duration & quality. The Hooper Index can also be valuable for assessing fatigue, stress & sleep. See Hatia et al. (2024) for more info: DOI 10.7759/cureus.76635

@zbitter I know someone out there is thinking that if there’s a benefit to Sauna after an aerobic workout, doing something like 30x30 short intervals inside the sauna maximizes gains, it’s probably been done already.

For decades, peer review has been treated as the gold standard of scientific validation. Yet many scientists know the reality: the system is far from perfect. Peer review is broken and sometimes even corrupted. The process can be slow, inconsistent, and vulnerable to bias. Reviewers are sometimes asked to judge work outside their true expertise. In other cases, they may be evaluating ideas that challenge the very paradigm in which they were trained. And occasionally, reviewers are simply competitors. Ironically, the most prestigious journals can also be the most conservative. Truly new ideas are often met with skepticism, while safer work that fits the current narrative moves more easily through the system. Increasingly, papers are judged less by the originality of the idea and more by the volume of data, the sophistication of statistics, and the beauty of the figures. Science risks becoming data-rich but idea-poor. But there is an important reality to remember: journals do not ultimately decide the impact of scientific work. Impact is decided later, by the community. By the scientists who read it, test it, debate it, and cite it. In the end, citations and ideas determine the legacy of a paper, not the impact factor of the journal that first published it. Science has always advanced by questioning assumptions. Perhaps it is time we also question the system that filters scientific ideas.

When is Domenically getting fired? Yesterday was the best time, second best time is today. When a CEO delivers such a poor and substandard product that is hated by everyone but himself, it is time to take measures. He will not leave obviously, he lives in a bubble completely unaware of what racing fans and drivers want and he doesn’t seem to care, hence he must be fired.

I would love to be able to run with headphones sometimes, it would be helpful when doing lots of easy volume… But i just can’t, i feel it’s dangerous for me because i dissociate from the dangers around me and music messes with my pace. Also, i feel strange when i can’t hear my breathing while running, audiobooks i know i couldnt do.

I've gone full circle on the running without headphones to running with headphones to running without headphones again. I rarely run with headphones now. Why? The weather is good, so I don't need the distraction. It also gives me time to work through the day, the week and my goals. You can literally move through your problems, which is great. I still run with headphones sometimes. Why? It distracts me and makes it easier to finish an easy run or do a treadmill run to maintain good volume, rather than quiting early because I'm just bored and don't want to run. Listening to audio books during running is pretty cool. I binged the whole Orphan X series in like 10 weeks. Both have a purpose but I feel like you should try to spend more time without headphones and just make running a moment during your day where you connect with your surroundings, nature and your thoughts & feelings. If you run with headphones everytime, give it a shot. Leave them at home and see what pops up in your brain.

The Pikes Peak Suzuki Escudo, driven by Nobuhiro “Monster” Tajima, is a car that, if not for Gran Turismo, 95% of people would not even know existed. One thing I can say for sure is that video games are a healthier use of time than social media. The amount of obscure cars and motorsport history that video games have taught us would be almost impossible to replicate anywhere else. Monster Tajima and Suzuki Sport are six time overall winners of the Pikes Peak Hill Climb.

That was my first marathon!! And i ran it two times and also once the half, you couldn’t have chosen a better race for your first marathon it is still one of my favorite races. My advice, be very conservative on the first two hills around 3-5 kms from the start, they come way too early and there is no point to push there because you can ruin your race there. Then after the University enjoy the downhill, it’s long enough to make up for the lost time in the uphill but not so crazy that it will ruin your quads. And then prepare yourself mentally for the lap around Stanley Park, there is a point where it seems neverending and can be frustrating. I really paced myself until the entrance of Stanley Park, and there i went for it and took some risks but i had been managing and pacing myself down the entire race… ended with 3:38 on my first marathon. It’s a unique race, great vibe and support along most of the course in truly unique and scenic city. Have fun!!
