Tinkering with Home Assistant is going to force me to finally re-learn C++ so I can drive all of my VFDs and LCDs with ESP8266s instead of scraping the API with a python script running on an RPi 0.
This all started because I wanted hot keys to launch streaming apps on my TV.

@jeffgerstmann Have you tried any of the calculators? Mine was pretty accurate, within a week or so ~2 months before, and nailed the day the week before. There’s a few out there at steam-deck-calculator.web.app, the jimmosio one linked from the bottom seemed the most accurate to me.

You may have better luck with PC capture then random consoles, though, since you can control the output better; and this was from a few years ago, so the situation may be different now.

@marcoarment FWIW, I've heard Blackmagic kit is pickier about HDMI input resolution/timings then Elgato; the few streamers I knew that tried it wound up using SDI converters, moved back to Elgato capture equipment, or used random Amazon finds that are never findable again.

@BenLumenDigital Cool, thanks! One other thing I wasn’t sure about, is the Live toggle supposed to be a button? If so I can’t hit it right now (maybe because it’s jutting into the clock space? Though maybe there’s some other odd UI bug on 15.1; the device menu doesn’t scroll or highlight…)

@rufo Hi Rufo. Blur doesn’t save on live yet… but it will soon. I had some issues on the pipeline there (slow!). And thanks for the mini screenshot - I’ll tweak that 👍

@BenLumenDigital Is the blur supposed to save out when you save a live wallpaper? It doesn’t seem to for me. Also, controls are a bit close to the top on 13 mini.

When the BBC screen showed a cool computer generated graphic of a rotating globe… it was actually them FILMING A TINY LITTLE MODEL OF A LIGHT-UP GLOBE THAT SPUN AROUND???

@viticci I’m wondering if the reason HomePods won’t stream lossless at launch is that, out of all AirPlay devices, it’s the only one that streams Apple Music directly from Apple, and thus it needs extra tweaks in the Home app and firmware to manage opting into lossless.

To me, this suggests HomePod and HomePod mini can be updated to support lossless (but not hi-res?) because they have an iPhone-based SoC (A8 and S5).
Now I'm curious to see if there's an AirPlay 3 angle to all this coming at WWDC 🤔
