@GregLehman I see many people w/ varying degrees of pain & functional issues. With that said, I think a flawed understanding of pain & not knowing the best course of action leads to stagnation & lack of direction, which is a culprit. This is Chris Johnson. No personal twitter acct

The problem with selling exercise to improve function is that many people don’t have issues with their function. Their problem is pain. That’s why they aren’t doing what they want.

@tomgoom Thoughts on Chuckwaipong's 2008 CORR article suggesting that there's no need to distinguish b/w zone 2 & 3 in terms of management. Pretty infographic as usual, Tom.

There is absolutely NO point being a great rehab specialist or manual therapist if you cant develop trust and respect with patients! Before worrying about mastering the skills of rehab or manual therapy, first perfect the art of communication and building relationships!

@BlueSpotScience I think this is great and encapsulates a ton of information. I think you could improve it by showing that RPE is more curvilinear than linear especially as you get to higher ends of the intensity spectrum. Look forward to seeing the final version. -Chris Johnson

There has been some great feedback on our figure. To answer two common questions: 1. The figure is from a manuscript we are preparing to submit 2. The figure is our attempt to summarise many of the common schemas in use (it is NOT an attempt to propose recommended terminology)

"A new phenomenon of mask-induced headaches". Another example of a made up diagnosis that cannot be supported by the methodology used in this study. Research 101-cross sectional data tells us nothing about causation. irishexaminer.com/news/arid-4072… @imransajid

This is such a cool study with annoying (not the authors' fault!) findings 🥴 Of 21 asymptomatic college runners, 9 showed MRI "abnormalities" for signs of tibial stress injury. Of the 9, none developed TSF in the following 1-4 years. We are far from for detection...

Any thoughts on the MECHANISM of why low load - hi Frequency hopping is helpful for Achilles’ tendon. I like them but they don’t “check the box” on what is typically advocated for tendinopathies. Less than 70% max, high repetition, low TUT etc. 1

Call ing a painful movement pattern a "faulty movement pattern" is not appropriate. Why do researchers continue to tie their shoes before they put them on? You can't call hip adduction faulty or "disordered" when you've never proven this. Especially since plenty of 1/2

Alternating 30s hard and 15s easy produced bigger gains than a more typical session of 5min reps, seemingly by increasing lactate tolerance, in elite cyclists. Not to oversell it, but it seems like a somewhat uncommon workout style, perhaps worth a try. outsideonline.com/2408756/cyclin…
