Gotta be careful the last few hours before sleeping. You're willpower is sapped. You buy things you shouldn't buy. You eat things you shouldn't eat. You say things you shouldn't say. Best to just get into a reading habit in bed

@BioavailableNd I had mine removed a year ago and that's exactly around when my IBS disappeared completely now that you mention it. However, my teeth have moved a bit since then lol

@milkandmarrow I genuinely just want a wedding on a local beach with like 30 people max lol. And I can't imagine spending a down payment-sized sum on a one day event

Ive always thought micro weddings and elopements were very chic but now as ive helped plan a few dozen weddings professionally and personally I see them as the only reasonable option. A year of planning and 300 of your closest acquaintances in a ballroom sounds hellish.

@goinggodward I don't know who's making all of these billions of reels tbh because I live in LA which should be reel ground zero and I only see people making them occasionally.. but mostly quiet asian people making restaurant reels lol

How is making a reel not a humiliation ritual? I can’t stop myself from thinking about all the camera positioning and editing that goes into those videos and wondering how anyone works themselves up to making one.

Americans: get the category "creamer" out of your minds. It's not real, but we all act like it's normal. The stupid word comes from the idea of "something that 'creams' your coffee." Something *other than cream or milk*. As if "creaming coffee" were something utterly unconnected with cream or dairy, and that it's a job that some industrial slop can do just as well. I'm now noticing big dairy section signs at the grocery: CREAMER. Huh? And there's no sign pointing you to actual dairy CREAM. Two to four refrigerated cases of stupid slop from soybean oil-vanilla-gum-thing to oats or hemp or other "anything but real dairy" substitutes. Yeah, I know. "That's such a small thing." No, it isn't. It's an illustration of how we have slowly, over time, emptied out our brains of sense. We treat the fake CREAMER as if it's a Platonic food category that's normal, and act like we can't just put CREAM in the coffee. -J

The right wing hippy is a much more logical archetype than the left wing hippy. Nature itself is inherently right wing (i.e. hierarchical). All left wing politics are utopian (i.e. opposed to nature); leftism is defined by the violent imposition of man-made constructions like “equality” onto a wild, unequal, raw reality; the flattening of the Cosmos. The only natural analogue to left-wing values is heat death, the theoretical end of the universe, where all structures (i.e. differences, inequalities, borders) are dissolved into a state of maximal equality (i.e. nothingness), and which all living things resist by the very act of being alive. If you love living things and desire a natural way of being, you have to be right wing

When I visited England, many of the women there looked like me—same coloring, same eyes and brows, same hair color. Genuinely felt like I was around my kin even though they were strangers to me. Was comforting in ways I didn’t expect.

@leamaric @RachelZader idk I remember being like 8 years old and being shocked every time I saw a girl sporting a whale tail in public. It was all ultra low rise pants and crop tops. Not saying it's a good thing but not a new gen-z or social media thing

I do see it with zoomers but there’s a time and place for having your whole stomach out and it’s always going to be awkward when it’s in the mall on a 35 degree day in Cleveland or at the grocery store at 11am on a Monday. I still think it’s really weird to walk around half naked regardless of where you live. Very social media brained fashion sense. And I’m not even a prude!

I love how zoomers seem to think it’s totally normal to walk around with their bare midriffs showing in the middle of the day in public. Like, no… anyway, here’s the attention you ordered!

My pet peeve is when you mention something cool about a pre-20th century era (like the fashion or architecture) and people's only response is "but they all smelled" or "they didn't have toilets." Like respectfully shut up lol
