@mattgurney Sure. But let’s be real. China has Canadian MPs in their pocket and is interfering in our elections. We are exponentially more susceptible to Chinese influence than the US.

Canada cannot allow China to establish this kind of footprint on our border, or something.

S&P 500 RALLY LIMITED WITHOUT HORMUZ REOPENING: BARCLAYS
Barclays says global equities are hitting record highs on hopes of a U.S.–Iran deal, but warns the rally lacks breadth and depends on key risks easing.
• Semiconductor stocks are seen as “stretched,” limiting upside
• Further gains require progress on reopening the Strait of Hormuz
• Markets are also supported by liquidity, strong AI-led earnings, and FOMO
The bank notes the energy shock has so far been absorbed via inventory drawdowns, but warns these buffers are fading and demand risk is rising.
Barclays says a peace deal could boost European stocks, but its strategic preference remains the U.S., Japan, and emerging markets.

GERMANY PUSHES NEW ALLIANCES AS TRUMP STRAINS WESTERN TIES
Germany’s vice chancellor called for stronger alliances between the EU, Canada, the UK and other partners to reduce dependence on major powers like the US and China.
Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil said Europe must become more resilient as Donald Trump’s policies, Russia’s war in Ukraine and global tensions expose vulnerabilities in the current world order.
He pointed to growing cooperation with countries including Canada, India, Australia and Mercosur nations, while saying Europe should act more confidently after Trump backed down over Greenland following a united European response.

IRAN STRIKES HIT MAJORITY OF US MILITARY SITES IN MIDEAST
A CNN investigation finds Iran and its allies have damaged at least 16 U.S. military installations across eight Middle Eastern countries, in some cases leaving facilities largely unusable.
The targeted sites include key radar, communications, and aircraft systems—high-value assets that are difficult and costly to replace. One congressional aide said assessments range from “fully destroyed” to “repairable but strategically vital.”
The Pentagon estimates war-related costs at up to $25 billion, with some sources placing the figure as high as $50 billion. Regional allies hosting U.S. forces have also expressed frustration over being excluded from Washington’s war planning.
