Italy's decline started in 1969. We could argue if the start date can be backdated to 1964 or 1968 or postdated to 1971 or 1973, but that's the whole universe of available options. Proposing 2002 is sincerely ridicoulous. By the Italy had been in decline for at least 3 decades, possibly almost 4.

@polidemitolog @BiankaB12 And the opposite is also true - most Bulgarians consider Serbia a more developed country(IMO they are pretty much on par) . The most striking difference is the infrastructure - despite having received much less cohesion funds, Serbia has better roads and city infrastructure.

Collective stereotypes are always interesting. For example, the average Serb still lives with the 1989 notion that Romanians and Bulgarians are a lower caste of people, despite both of these countries being more developed than Serbia, and Romania basically being a small economic miracle on its own.

@PaulConRO I can speak for Bulgaria - ever since I was 7, I've been constantly fed with history lessons on how Russia saved us from "Ottoman slavery". During communism, Bulgaria was one of the most loyal satellite to Russia, some politicians even wantes us to become the 16th USSR republic.

I've been trying to understand these results. It seems that CEE and Southeastern Europe always think the opposite of Western Europe. My explanation lies in history: these countries fought against the expansionist Ottoman Empire, Russia in its various forms, and Western colonial empires. We have very different histories, religions, backgrounds, and cultures. It will take decades to harmonize our stances, if that ever happens. Living standards have increased significantly since EU accession, but not for everyone. Some people found themselves in a new world, already too old to adapt. Entire industries and ways of life that people grew accustomed to during the commie regime are now gone. Some rural areas have been deserted due to factory closures. Russia hates us, and the West often looks down on us without realizing that it is not our fault to have barbarians at our borders. Some frustrated people would even like Russia to plunder the West, just as it did to us for 50 years. It's complicated. Judging is easy, understanding is not..

@PaulConRO Many Bulgarians(mostly elderly) feel that we've betrayed our "bratushki"(russian brothers) and we traded them for the West which looks down on us. If you ask many of them, they'd say that the Russians are much more respectful towards our country than the West, which ofc is a lie

Обаче 1,43 € вече 2,796… лева. Тоест 2,80 лв. А и по-важното данъчната основа се е променила и закръглила заради големите дробни числа
