Visited Fredericksburg, Gillespie County, to meet with the school board about 89th #txlege Session priorities. Stopped by the Nimitz Museum to review infrastructure updates and future needs. Fredericksburg is a Texas treasure—and Backwoods BBQ serves some great food!

Latest #WatsonWire: Austin City Hall officially opened for the people’s business 20 years ago in November 2004. I was quoted at the time saying that our new copper-clad, pointy-angled, limestone-stacked, window-dominant seat of municipal government would be “looked at by people all over the world.”
Turns out, once again (yeah, it never gets old) I wasn’t wrong all those years ago. Austin City Hall has become an architectural icon, featured in books and articles and celebrated for being a little different – just like Austin.

Austin’s penchant for long, highly opinionated public hearings doesn’t appear to have contributed to his demise.

My episode on the @theaustinbar podcast is live. Great to talk about life without alcohol.
- how I came to the decision (three years ago today!)
- thriving in this profession without alcohol
- some words to young(er) lawyers about dealing with stress
Giving up alcohol has been maybe the best, most consequential decision of my adult life.
