@Sargon_of_Akkad This is a case where i totally agree with both sides of the argument. We have to start introducing nuance of thought in all these big subjects (racism, abortion, nationalism). Teaching our kids to think instead of programming them with a set of ideologies would be a good start.

Wind power is sold as clean, but the turbines need extensive raw materials. Taking just the blades, a single set of three blades uses as many as 40 mature balsa trees. Balsa wood is light, strong and flexible, which makes it useful inside giant turbine blades that need to bend with the wind. Demand has surged and legal supply cannot keep up, so wild balsa is cut from protected Amazon rainforest where it should not be touched. It is then mixed into the legal supply and passed off as plantation wood. By the time it reaches manufacturers, illegal rainforest timber looks clean on paper. More than 500,000 balsa trees are illegally logged each year to feed wind turbine demand. Protected forest cut down, indigenous land raided, biodiversity destroyed - sold to the West as "green" energy.

I disagree @scottmelker, ETH can hit $250k you're applying arguments against ETH that you don't apply to bitcoin, and that's exactly the point @mikemcg0 is making - be open to ETH as a SoV. if bitcoin can surpass the value of gold - then so can ETH. and the $250k outcome in the paper isn't a prediction, it's a statement of logic - if ETH is a civilizational store of value like gold, then the outcome is measured in the tens of trillions. no one saying it's easy, or immediate, or even assigning a probability to this outcome (that's for the market to decide). the paper just says - the menger money attributes are there, so be open minded to the possibility.

@LightningNewsX Onboarding with non custodial lightning is difficult and expensive compared to L1s. LN is great as a cross-protocol liquidity layer but nearly unusable as a payment wallet without (semi) custodial solutions.
