Language will become the interoperability layer for the internet.
A long-form post on how @dainprotocol aims to solve the internet's interoperability problem through NLP using 🤖Autonomous AI Agents and 🌐Decentralized Blockchain Tech.
DAIN does a lot more, but this is a core issue we are aiming to solve, and one I'm very excited about.
✨The Issue
Since the launch of the internet, integration between web systems has relied on rigid, predefined APl’s and protocols. This makes the internet extremely fragmented.
Requests over HTTP have predefined schemas for inputs, and outputs, and code must be built specifically to handle each endpoint.
Developers must discover, read documentation, and manually code to interact with every external service. As endpoints evolve developers must recode, and as they connect with new services, developers must create service-specific implementations.
Downstream: businesses and consumers bear this burden, it's complex, it requires consistent maintenance, it's time-consuming, and it wastes money.
🎙️Human Language
Human language defines all aspects of human civilization, our discourse through language powers almost all pillars of society.
If we can replicate human language interactions in machines, we can power entire economic systems just like humans, but completely automated.
🤖The AI Opportunity
Machines can now fully understand language through LLMs. They can process it, and communicate with it.
Just as every human (who speaks the same language) can immediately interact with each other. LLM-based AI Agent systems can immediately interact with each other using human language.
Recent AI progress, specifically in NLP presents an unprecedented opportunity to reinvent the internet to allow every connected system to interoperate with each other.
NLP is consistently getting faster, more accurate, and more computationally efficient.

DAIN connects services, consumers, and businesses seamlessly using AI agents.
Current AI systems can understand human language and are completely conversational, but they operate in complete isolation, unable to interact with each other.
Similar to the way the common protocols that defined the Internet allowed personal computers and services to interact with each other, DAIN connects AI agents and powers the autonomous Internet.
DAIN reimagines the internet as a connected, symbiotic network. It breaks down the barriers between services and connects them seamlessly with language through AI agents that can converse between them.
DAIN lays the groundwork for autonomous agents to interact, transact, and collaborate with each other, it is the rails for an Agent Economy (I'll do another post on this soon!)
🌐 Blockchain
Although autonomous systems promise massive benefits, they also empower the internet's biggest issues to a whole new level. This needs to be protected on DAIN.
When we realize the full power of artificial intelligence for our benefit, it will also create bots online that replicate humans 1:1, making them indistinguishable, and leading to unprecedented fraud, attacks, and worse.
Blockchain presents the solution to these bot problems, it establishes identity, and complete transparency for AI systems, allowing them to create an actual reputation online, and tie them to existing organizations.
Payments are fragmented, and decentralized finance presents an opportunity to make finance interoperable. On the new internet powered by DAIN, every entity needs to be able to pay each other for services on the network.
The openness and decentralization of blockchain networks allow everyone on the internet to participate in DAIN and help create a massively improved web.
⚡️The DAIN Impact on Internet Interoperability
Unlike traditional requests over HTTP, where most services on the internet use predefined parameters and outputs, DAIN agents communicate over natural language and process requests using NLP.
This means requests across the network are completely dynamic, every service can interact with any other service; no new code, immediate interactions, connections, and services are provided.
An AI agent instantly understands a request process, and can send in a request how it wants, and the recieving agent can understand the inputs, and issue an output how it wants. (or vise versa!)
The process for integration with external services on DAIN is revolutionized. It’s a paradigm shift for connection between entities on the internet.
The current process is extremely time consuming, and requires:
- Getting access to APIs
- Reading and learning about how an API work through its documentation
- Interacting with the SDKs and coding new features
- Integrating with current services
- Deploying new code, testing, and bringing it to users
This wastes time, developers, and eventually money, the DAIN experience to interact with services is instant, and doesn’t take weeks.
On DAIN, users:
- Request a service
- Receive immediate responses by relevant services on the network
- Use the service
There is no new code required, devlopers integrate DAIN once. It's instant, easy, and everything is immediately interoperable with the entire network.
🦋Everything, with one integration
DAIN is the infrastructure in which an “everything app” can be built.
Every device you use has a massive number of apps, each have their own UI, experience, subscriptions, and they all integrate with a singular external service.
Lyft does rideshare. Amazon does ecommerce delivery. Chase does banking.
DAIN is a single integration that can interact with everything.
This means users can use one app, and that app will be able to interact with everything they use instantly.
Developers can now focus completely on the user experience, automate every aspect of life, introduce *REAL* personal AI assistants, and only integrate once with DAIN.
A lot of people talk about creating an "everything app", but what if "we", as a network, could create one together that anyone can build on. The opportunity is endless.
⭐️Closing Thoughts
We're working to solve a lot with DAIN, and opening the doors to lots of new economic opportunities, but a language powered internet is one of my absolute favorites.
