I have been ill. My cancer is progressing. Today is May 22, 1967. I am home at 20E.127 St. in Harlem. Come visit me before it is too late.

I have written 16 books of poems, 2 novels, 3 collections of short stories, 20 plays, scripts and articles. I like it but I'm getting tired.

@EmDickins I feel terrible about your illness. I hope it's nothing serious. Please take care of yourself & keep me posted of your condition.

My favorite pastime is sitting in the clubs listening to blues, jazz music & writing poetry. The clubs in Harlem are the best! Go and see!

It is 1931, and I am on my way to the Soviet Union for my annual lecture tour. I will keep you posted on what happens.

I created Simple, an interesting negro character who has plenty to say. Learn more about him in my column in the Chicago Defender Newspaper.

Congratulations to the Lincoln University Class of 1929! Thank you LU for giving me a scholarship, because of it I got my college degree.

It's 1924, my first published poem "The Negro Speaks of Rivers" is out! I hope this is a sign of good things coming my way. Wish me luck!

I am back living with my mom in DC working as a hotel busboy so I can go back to college. I have been busy writing poetry in my spare time.
