BREAKING The Mets are promoting No. 2 prospect Jonah Tong. To make room for the move, they’ll be DFAing reliever Craig Kimbrel, who has a 6 ERA in 14 appearances.

@matthewstoller Have you been paying attention? “Could”? It’s exactly what Obama and Biden DOJ did for twelve years, except for much more taxpayer money.

Kind of insane he survived this and a 22-45-1 record. The Giants’ ownership is a patient bunch!

This is like when Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow. 5 (?) more years of winter Giants bury a Joe Schoen extension announcement right up against a Knicks Eastern Conference Final home game Concerning development for the start of the John Harbaugh Era. Comes only days after Schoen received a lukewarm reception including some boos at a fan Town Hall #talkinball
Ian Rapoport@RapSheet

The #Giants and GM Joe Schoen have agreed to terms on a multi-year extension to keep him working with John Harbaugh for years to come, per me and @MikeGarafolo. After a successful offseason, including the work during the NFL Draft, Schoen is rewarded with a new deal.

@BuckSexton Queen's Gambit. Hands down. Incredibly riveting story telling, pacing, character development, conflict, suspense, awe. It could stand on its own as the story of a broken girl becoming a great chess player. The magic was gone by episode 5 or 6.

@OrinKerr Behind every Supreme Court reform is the unstated belief that the current Court is not to the speaker's liking and that he would like it better under the proposed reform. Everything else is silliness. If there were six liberal justices over 80 this essay would never be written

Re the NYT essay below on 18-year terms for Supreme Court Justices, I have two thoughts. First, the "Framers couldn't have foreseen this" gets the point wrong. I don't think we have reason to believe the Framers couldn't have foreseen a Justice staying on the court for many decades. As far as I can tell, no one flipped out when Chief Justice Marshall was on the Court for over 34 years, from 1801 to 1835. What the Founders couldn't have foreseen is that the Court would be as powerful as it has become in the modern era. That's the problem, I think. More broadly, I'm a huge fan of 18-year terms for Justices, but just telling the NYT audience that it could be done by regular legislation is a disservice to readers. I know some people have made the argument that such reforms wouldn't require a constitutional amendment, but the argument is not a good one. As I see it, it's the kind of argument you make when you're deeply committed to an outcome and will take anything that sounds plausible. I get that this describes a non-zero number of influential people, but that doesn't improve it as an argument. Anyway, I realize this puts us in a cruddy position. Our Republic would be much healthier with 18 year terms for Justices, and yet we can't get there without a constitutional amendment that is, as a practical matter, out of reach. But I think that's where we are. nytimes.com/2026/05/19/opi…

This is a reminder that Senator Bill Cassidy advocated for the SAVE America Act on the Senate floor. Let’s see if he continues to advocate for election integrity after losing the Louisiana Republican primary.

A news reporter asked Michael Jordan if he thought the ’90s Bulls could beat LeBron’s Lakers. MJ: Yes. Reporter: By how much? MJ: Two or three points. Reporter: Why so close? MJ: Most of us are almost 60 now.

@AmericanGwyn When I realized near the end that his complex, obscure, and difficult-to-reconcile plot was an elaborate metaphor (allegory?) for the Vietnam War itself I was simply blown away.

Was reading a passage from ToS to my girlfriend this morning. It’s one of my five favorite novels and contains the best dialogue I’ve ever read. Cormac, O’Connor, and Hemingway wrote great dialogue, but no one has written dialogue like Denis Johnson: it’s another level, entirely.

Yesterday was the 2nd game the Mets felt like they had a likeable team all season. The other was opening day. Put players the fans want to see on the field. Coincidentally, the're better players because we use our eyes and not spreadsheets. Stop using Austin Slater for players that are better than him.
