You are a butterfly. Fragile, iridescent, prone to being trapped in nets or chased by dogs or both, a wobbly flyer, not good in winter. Hm… this did not turn out to be a super great compliment.

When you let the creative team do something ‘big and noteworthy’ with the remaining 2024 brand budget.

@JamesAHogg2 I discovered Sherlock Holmes in a bookstore in Milwaukee, age 8 or somewhere around there. A billion years ago. I also loved Sidney Paget’s illustrations. Jeremy Brett was Holmes. Best ever. Cumberbatch did a great job, too.

1/2 Thinking about Jeremy Brett who would have been 91 today. I was working at Wyndhams when he and Ted Hardwicke were there in The Secret of Sherlock Holmes. We had them for a whole year! Jeremy used to come into the box office at 3pm every day, make us tea, smoke Silk Cut,

Felt bummed that I didn’t watch many horror films this October and then had to remind myself that I watch horror films literally all the time and don’t need a designated month in which to do so.

@unclebernbach I love this. Tesco has had a billion years of fame, feeling and fluency to lean into. Also, give people a puzzle. Not everything has to hit you over the head like an anvil. Dull is a waste of money. This is good.

Love learning that Brian Blessed, who voiced Clayton in Disney's Tarzan, got a second contract deal just for doing the Tarzan yell cause the actor playing Tarzan couldn't do it and Brian did it for them when he was to fly back home and he performed it perfectly on the spot.

@DavidPaternostr Cool. What about the Apology of Aristides set to Head Over Feet by Alanis Morrisette?

I just judged a rendition of the Chalcedonian decree on Christ set to the tune of “Human” by Christina Perri to determine if it is free of Christological heresy. How’s your day going?

The best ads create longing, yearning, desire. They can be funny, insightful, puzzling, playful, fun. Above all they should entertain us. The best ads make us ache.

Apple TV, I do not want to watch It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown in 4k with Dolby sound. I want to watch it in slightly okay quality with seasonal local furniture store and car dealership commercials where they just cast their family as actors playing during the breaks.

“We’re in a category that lacks humanity, chocked with brands that look boring, that is increasingly seen by consumers as totally commoditised. So… if you could make us more cartoonish, take out the detail, and dial down the distinctive, that would be great.”
Andrew J. Willshire@ajwillshire

I'm afraid I think that Scottish Widows have lost their minds with their rebrand. 40 years of patiently building a distinctive brand asset (young widow in black cloak) and... it's gone, replaced by a flat, red, Supergirl logo. Bonkers.

The new Salem’s Lot definitely suffers from putting it all in one movie. King built the story beautifully and intricately and it works against reduction. It IS great to see filmmakers going back to rich colors and lighting. Some truly great shots in this movie.
