After the 2021 election, three Conservative MPs, including myself and Chris D’Entremont, ran to be Deputy Speaker. Conservative MPs had an internal vote and Chris narrowly won. This is how we do it for this post as well as Caucus Chair. Fast forward to this year. D’Entremont didn’t want a vote to happen. He wanted to be appointed. When that didn’t happen and he lost in a free vote to Tom Kimiec, he was very upset and made it known. BTW, I lost the vote to be Assistant Deputy Speaker to John Nader and I’m not sulking. Attempts to placate D’Entremont were futile. He thought he was owed this position but he was not. I can assure you that he would not have crossed over if he had won this ‘prestigious’ position & the extra $51K that goes with it. Take everything you hear from him about his reasons abandoning those who voted for him & the Conservative Party with a hefty dose of scepticism.

So, here we are: an elected Member of Parliament, Secretary of State (Nature), who still maintains ties with the organization for which she was the "former" (Never see the memo yet) spokesperson few months ago, and for 35 years.
I checked, and in my opinion, this is a major conflict of interest according to the code of ethics applicable to Members of Parliament:

Let's study the positive and negative impacts of reversing the gun bans and leaving legal gun owners alone .... @MarkJCarney @DavidMcGuinty @marcomendicino
Positive:
▶️Save $2-$6B for taxpayers
▶️End a divisive Trudeau era policy that had no effect on public safety
▶️Refocus funding to law enforcement, CBSA (borders, smuggling), RCMP
▶️Properly fund the firearms program, actually do all vetting
▶️Win back left leaning gun owners and their families
▶️Prevent police resources being wasted on buyback
▶️Show you’re not Trudeau
▶️Secure relationship with FN hunters
▶️End the embarrassment of the 5 year failure of the confiscation program
▶️Gain back support from law enforcement
▶️Salvage unity and prevent provincial tensions
▶️Probably win a majority

The Conservatives biggest gains came in urban & suburban Ontario, where they captured the majority of support that previously went to the NDP/Greens, plus a little from the PPC.
Only Nanos & Abacus projected results like this. Most pollsters had the LPC with a 9pt+ lead in Ont.
If they can keep building on this, Pierre Poilievre will be leading a majority government after the next election.

This is not a huge deal, I was easily able to vote regardless, it just took a few minutes longer..

Canadians, in poll after poll, as far back as 2022, weighed in on the consumer carbon tax, & the vast majority said it was an inefficient & unfair mechanism to fight climate change, real as it is.
Liberal MP after Liberal MP, for year after year, insisted it WAS efficient, & it was a branding issue, & they knew better than Canadian families how it hit households & made most things more expensive, in notably inflationary times.
And, today, in an effort to buy votes, the Liberal government admitted that all along, they were wrong….the people were right, & other parties were right to urge them to scrap it.
Ask them why they did it & when they knew they were wrong, & where the consumer tax is moving to….because the new PM has already said there will be one…
