Fleet is really cool. The ability to create update groups then declare how, when, and what will get upgraded on your Kubernetes clusters is a game changer. Here I have two clusters in two different upgrade groups running a full upgrade. Powerful stuff - learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/ku…

Fleet has the potential to cover many use cases over time. Our strategy with the original announcement was to introduce the concept and start the conversation on what we should prioritize. The response was definitive: coordinated multi-cluster updates. So that's what we did.

Aa far as I know, google/ko is undervalued or not well-known. This is pretty much useful tool for Go developers. Especially, in combination with Cloud Run, this is pretty neat! github.com/google/ko

And a small note - holy cow did I have an amazing recruiting experience. 😍 Big kudos to the folks there who know how to make candidates feel valued every step of the way.

The most exciting news... In August I’m joining the docs leadership team at @stripe!! I’m over-the-moon thrilled to help make their docs even better for users (is that even possible?!) and learn from so many kind, talented people.

@martin_casado Although I completely agree with your observation, it's easier said than done. It not only takes a lot more effort to filter through a large number of candidates, but there is also not even a good way to identify the exceptional from the average. Any thoughts on that front?

By the numbers there is likely a very strong pool of talent in lower-tiered schools, particularly when plucking from the top. And importantly, there are a lot more of them (both schools and students)! Of course you have to be a good recruiter to find them. But that's the job!

"We only hire from top schools" is lazy practice that results in less-than-top teams. This thread is a rough attempt to explain why 🧵👇

@shreyas What really happened here is the original PM got promoted after product 1.0 is shipped. That's the ultimate problem. If a PM is not rewarded (and keeps getting low review) before their product is successful, less PM will bravely go down this road. They will have to do real DD.

7/22 So, what really happened here? Many possible reasons for this saga, but the most common ones: (A) The product should not have been built in the first place (B) The original product was ill-conceived & all subsequent choices/pivots had to inherit this original sin

A B2B Product Management story: -New product idea -PM diligently talks to customers about whether such a product will solve their problems -All say “yes” -PM reports findings to exec team, gets staffing for the product -First version launched -Hardly any customer adopts it 1/22

@Birdyword Unfortunately for the uneducated MSM, they won't get it. We will live with covid pretty much forever but it should be treated just as a flu after most people are vaccinated.

I seriously don't understand how people are parents, employees, do open source, and have time for hobbies and other interests. My life is on autopilot, barely a gap in time where I'm not exhausted. Especially during this pandemic.

@mitchellh Why not provide a general purpose Terraform K8s CRD that doesn't require another "cloud"? I am positive that is what everyone wants

@Rafavallina Hi, Rafael, I am very excited about the Proton project but I was stuck pretty much on step one with the default lambda template. Can you give me some hints on what am I missing?

Lots of questions and comments about Proton. Very excited to hear them! There is a lot to explain about this service, as we are trying to create order out of several different pieces. This will be a thread of VERY short FAQs to hopefully help clarify. Will keep updating it!

@clare_liguori @Rafavallina I got "Missing credentials in config, if using AWS_CONFIG_FILE, set AWS_SDK_LOAD_CONFIG=1." on the console. I picked the sample template lambda-service. Any tips on how to solve this? Does the console somehow look for AWS cli?

@ibuildthecloud @Apple This comes from a CTO whose company just sold for 500m+. And my wife thinks that I am stingy when I complain about her spending habits...

You've got to be kidding me. My wife's new iPhone 12 will cost more than her macbook and it doesn't even come with a wall plug. I have to spend another $20 just to charge it? How about @Apple to meet your "environment goals" you just make it optional or a free addon. Idiots.
