The thing I keep coming back to - and I recognize this is not an original thought - is that if AI was so beloved and useful, companies wouldn’t need to fist fuck it into every program and change icons so users use it by mistake.

The best indicator that our understanding of evolution is flawed is that many evolved features don't have any use until they are fully evolved.
Mimicry is a great example. If you want to postulate that mimicry prevents predation, fine, but how does the first iteration of such a feature meaningfully improve survivability?

It's actually pretty common for people to put a "feast plate" in their locker at the gym to encourage them to reach their fitness goal and celebrate by eating a special meal using the plate. Just made this up for no reason
