13 ago today, at 4.05pm, on an extremely hot summer afternoon, our world changed forever. It was the beginning of our family of four becoming three. It was the day of Charlotte's Year 11 prom. While her friends were getting ready for an evening of dresses, photographs and celebration, Charlotte was about to be told that she probably had a brain tumour. Earlier that day, she joked that it was probably just as well nobody had asked her to the prom. We would have spent a fortune on a dress and all the trimmings, only for her to be too ill to go. By 4.05pm, we were sitting in a quiet room as doctors explained that her scan had revealed a mass they believed could be a brain tumour. The images would be sent to King's for the opinion of the neurosurgical team. Charlotte was told the scan findings herself. Her first question was one no 16-year-old should ever have to ask: "What treatment is available?" The answer was that it depended on exactly what the lump was. She might need to be transferred to King's. Steroids were started immediately while blood tests were taken and sent away. At 4.05pm, our lives were divided into before and after. Nothing would ever be the same again. Charlotte, was just 19 when she died from a brain tumour on 24th February 2016 10 years ago. In that time: Nothing has changed with the standard NHS chemotherapy Temozolomide licensed back in 1999. Nothing has changed in the standard six-week course of radiotherapy. But one thing has changed: Charlotte’s BAG has raised £396,985.07 directly funding research at Charlotte’s Lab, King’s College Hospital, London We are now only £3,014.93 short of raising £400,000 The big difference with Charlotte's is simple: we self-fund everything. We had another incredibly heavy, heartbreaking night on the soup run. This shouldn't be happening, people who have worked hard their whole lives shouldn't have to spend their retirement standing in a queue for a hot meal just because their pension doesn't stretch far enough to cover their bills after a lifetime of hard work. As we say every week, our numbers are creeping up slightly each time. But what truly breaks our heart week in, week out, is seeing the elderly and vulnerable out there. Tonight, we saw people who are blind being led to the queue just to get something to eat. We saw elderly folks pushing walking frames and others with withered bodies just trying to get a few bits and pieces to keep them going for the week. The government has a lot to answer for, because seeing people who have given everything to this life end up on a soup run queue is absolutely shattering. That being said, we simply cannot do this without you and your unwavering support week in, week out. Tonight, we had exactly 300 hot meals and across our tables we put out all kinds of different foods and every single item went. Every item of food from our large transit van was taken out and laid upon our five, six foot tables, which were absolutely packed with food and every single thing went. Just 10 minutes earlier, they were carrying their friend's body in his funeral procession. Then the funeral itself was struck, and those who came to bid him farewell became martyrs themselves. At least 7 people have been killed so far. A martyr was being laid to rest, and those who escorted him became martyrs as well. I literally have done all of this. Spoken Hebrew to Palestinians, took my "Israeli" friends with me, filmed all of that. Palestinians I've met don't give a shit about you being Jewish or Israeli. This is Zvi Sukkot (Skotelsky). His grandparents were American jews who emigrated to colonise Palestine in the 1970s. His parents are strict Haredi (ultra-Orthodox) jews who pioneered the religious 'Beitar Illit' settlement where they illegally occupy the West Bank. In 2005, at age 14, Skotelsky became a member of the terrorist 'Hilltop Youth' (known for violent attacks, firebombings, and destruction against the non-jewish Palestinians). In 2007, he started studying at the Od Yosef Hai Yeshiva in Yitzhar – the most notorious religious fundamentalist settler-Yeshiva (which has received donations from Jared Kushner's family foundation). When he attended the Yeshiva, its leading rabbis were Yosef Shapira and Yosef Elitzur, who authored a book called King's Torah. It was a manual for the murder of non-jews. In 2009, he was arrested (though later released without charges) under suspicion of torching a mosque in a nearby Palestinian village. In 2017, he became the executive director for Itamar Ben-Gvir's Otzma Yehudit (jewish power) party. In 2023, he was elected as a member of Bezalel Smotrich's Religious Zionist Party in the illegitimate 'israeli' parliament (knesset). In January 2024, Skotelsky said: 'jewish settlement on ruins of Palestinian villages is a message we must convey' live on TV. In July 2024, he protested against the arrests of the IOF terrorists who gang raped a Palestinian hostage at the Sde Teiman military base. Since he is the chair of the education committee, he naturally spends his days storming Palestinian schools and terrorising the staff and children. In this particular attack, he breaks the plaque on an Islamic school for orphans because it has the Palestine flag on it. This is just one settler. One terrorist. One religious supremacist.
