Super talk on the LncRNA AATBC in brown fat @BarteltLab. Your data suggest this novel LncRNA has a major impact on the mitochondria, do you know if AATBC is expressed in other metabolic tissues such as skeletal muscle and whether expression is altered in obesity? #METPHYS2021

@FarnazShamsi @phillipwhite14 @BarteltLab Thanks @FarnazShamsi! So AATBC is a intergenic lncRNA and we have not seen any regulation of the neighbouring genes - which we found quite striking since it is exclusively found in the nucleus!

@phillipwhite14 @BarteltLab Great talk @BarteltLab! Where does this lncRNA sit in the genome? This might give some hints about its mechanism of action since some lncRNAs regulate the expression of their neighboring genes.

@luiz_leiria @BarteltLab @phillipwhite14 @ReviewCommons Thanks Luiz, we found the other way around, that cAMP signaling over various inducers elevates AATBC. RNASeq and other results didn't show us the classic PKA-pathway so we think that the regulation is more specific to mitochondria. But check cAMP-levels is always worth a try!

@BarteltLab @phillipwhite14 @ReviewCommons Thx for sharing bro! The effect on mitochondrial fission is interesting since it is needed for an appropriate uncoupling. Did you test whether AATBC might be inducing a cAMP-PKA pathway to drive fission and elevating UCP1 simultaneously?
