The Liberal roadmap by Andrew Coyne is worth the read.
What the Liberals are doing is framing any criticism of their handling of current issues as a lack of patriotism. Once that premise is accepted, the opposition is permanently on the defensive: every policy disagreement becomes a loyalty test.
It’s not unlike COVID-era rhetoric, when any questioning of lockdowns or vaccine mandates was cast as selfish or a threat to the common good - rather than a legitimate policy dispute.
That is useful politics.
It turns the conversation “are these policies working and at what cost?” back on the questioner as “do you love the country enough?”
👉 Keeping Conservatives on the defensive answering loyalty questions instead of the government answering competence questions is the point.

@wealthmoose Don’t forget Carney advised Trudeau for years. Petitions & Brookfield ethics questions keep circulating, but the loopholes have him covered. Carney’s Liberals are the most corrupt government Canada has had. Unless elbows-up Canadians wake up, the country will tank under net-zero.

Since 2015:
950,000 new government jobs.
That’s 30% of all the new jobs created in Canada.
Federal. Provincial. Municipal.
Bigger government.
Bigger payroll.
Higher long-term spending.
Bigger deficits.
Bigger debt.
Higher taxes.
And here’s the part they never mention:
Government jobs count toward GDP.
So flooding the public sector was an easy way to pad the numbers and make the economy look healthier than it actually was.
Private sector growth lagged.
Productivity stagnated.
But the official scoreboard looked “okay” because the government kept hiring itself.
Everyday Canadians are still the ones paying for the illusion.

Reporters lined the path waiting for Mark Carney in Newfoundland. He walked straight past them without stopping. Then, a few steps later, he turned around and came back to deliver his statement. Was this supposed to look powerful? Because it looked painfully rehearsed.

Amy Hamm said the quiet part out loud and the numbers back her up.
Among Canadians 60 and over, Liberals lead Conservatives by 20 points.
Without that age group, the parties are basically tied.
A big chunk of those voters still get their information from the CBC.
They see the housing crisis.
They see the manufacturing jobs disappearing.
They see a $6.4 billion bridge deal that sends Canadian money to a U.S. fund first.
And somehow the connection still doesn’t get made.
That loyalty is the only reason Carney still has oxygen.
The rest of us are living with the results.

The PRC tax authorities hold data on literally thousands of companies that have received VAT rebates for exporting these precursors. The MPS knows who, to whom, how much, the cost, and their bank accounts.
A case here and a case there is not genuine cooperation. It's a like a treat used to train compliance.

The main problem with this argument and others like it is it conflates the views of normie conservatives with weird, unrepresentative online types—which is inherently ungenerous. It’s like saying Mark Carney is pro-Hamas because there exists a pro-Hamas Left.
