@gggiants While amusing, that was on the cusp, part of the zany antics era. To each his own; I don't begrudge your enjoyment of that era. Personally I think the single best season was 3 ("The Contest", "The Outing", a bunch more). Later became almost unwatchable for me.

@susanslusser There is a reason "groupthink" has a negative connotation ("a psychological phenomenon where the desire for group cohesion and harmony results in irrational or dysfunctional decision-making"). Bad decisions are bad decisions, no matter who you arrive at them.

Vitello without quite saying it this bluntly is pretty clear that Eldridge mostly will come off the bench with Devers the primary 1B and Schmitt the team’s most productive hitter all year. He will made some starts here and there, but most of his ABs will be pinch hitting spots.

@susanslusser There are only three guys in this lineup that give you any hope at all of production - Arraez, Schmitt and Rodriguez. Maybe Lee gets a single or two. 5-6 hits is probably the ceiling for this lineup. Devers-Bader is a complete and total waste.
