The "Aloo" Incident (1997 Sahara Cup) : ⏩The "Aloo" incident took place on September 14, 1997, during the second match of the Sahara Cup (also known as the Friendship Cup) between India and Pakistan in Toronto, Canada. The Provocateur: A Canada-based Indian spectator named Shiv Kumar Thind was positioned in the stands with a megaphone. The Verbal Abuse: Thind spent a significant portion of India's innings directedly insulting Inzamam, who was fielding on the boundary. 👉The taunts included phrases like "mota aloo" (fat potato) and "sada aloo" (rotten potato). The Bat Request: At the end of the 16th over, Inzamam requested a bat from the Pakistan team's 12th man, Mohammad Hussain. The Charge: Armed with the bat, Inzamam leaped over the advertisement barriers and stormed into the stands to confront the spectator. The Fight: Witnesses reported that Inzamam attempted to strike the spectator. Thind reportedly threw his megaphone at Inzamam during the struggle. Security and other spectators had to restrain Inzamam to prevent more serious injuries; some stated that he would have "broken the head" of the fan otherwise

Did you know😄 A spectator kept teasing Inzamam, allegedly calling him “Aloo.” Inzi lost patience, grabbed a bat from the dressing room… and marched toward the crowd. Yes. A cricketer tried to confront a fan mid-match. Peak 90s chaos. Pic credit: ESPNCricnfo
